Does anyone know if the standard suspension on a 2014 328i Luxury Line if its as soft or softer than the comfort mode on a similar car equipped with the Dynamic Handling Package? Just wondering since the Dynamic Handling Package comes with M-adaptive suspension.
Also, if by ordering the Dynamic Handling Package, does the suspension sit lower than the Standard Suspension?

I find that the DHP in Comfort is slightly firmer than the Standard suspension and DHP in Sport is significantly firmer than both. DHP sits lower than the Standard suspension (RWD), is the same height as the Sport suspension (RWD), and much lower than the XDrive suspension (AWD). Note that if you go XDrive, you must get DHP to get any semblance of a Sport suspension, the XDrive suspension is the softest of them all and yes, an XDrive M-Sport still gets the soft XDrive suspension. |

Awesome. Thank you for the info. I just bought today a 2015 328i luxury line with the Standard suspension and was wondering if I should have gotten DHP for the more soft ride. Glad to hear standard is softer.
Traded in my 2013 535i Msport which had the M-Sport suspension and I found that suspension too firm and crashed over some bumps. I'm very happy with my 328i Luxury line.

Am I the only F30 owner that is okay with the standard suspension? I know DHP is better, but it's not like my car is a '59 Eldorado without it.

I found my 328i Luxury line was just a touch too soft. So now with DHP I get the best of both worlds at the touch of a button, can be soft and nice for the kids in Comfort mode, can be hard and sporty for dad in Sport mode. My opinion, best $1,000 you can spend on an F3X. Transforms the car. You don't have to choose one or the other- you can have both. And if you live near a big city with big city potholes, don't forget that besides the Comfort/Sport duality the Adaptive M Suspension is 'active' and sensing road imperfections constantly, in milliseconds, and adjusting accordingly on hte fly. It's not just an on/off switch; it's always 'on'. |

Agree completely. The E90 was so harsh I'd nearly had it with BMW, my 2013 328i and its Standard suspension was a lifesaver. Really handles well, very agile too. But the body roll is significant, I didn't like that, but the kids weren't getting nauseous anymore and I commute on highways and it was all win. Still, occasionally, I wished for something more sporty too, just without those awful pothole explosions the E90 was famous for. And that's where the amazing Adaptive M Suspension comes in because it's the F3X's Standard suspension in 'Comfort' and it's the E9X's firm suspension in 'Sport' but more refined without the explosions. So, from the photo, it's Row 1 plus Row 2 equals Row 3. |

Thanks for the info. To take it one step further, if one were to get DHP in a base model or sport line, the M-adaptive suspension would then be the same in each except for the larger anti-sway bars remaining on the sport line? Am I right, and if so, would the base + DHP ride that much different than a sport line + DHP?

My 08 E90 had the sport package and it was very rough, but also handled great.
My 13 F30 has sport line, but it's xDrive. The car definitely rides smoothly and is a little more "floaty" but I don't think it handles badly. The best part is I no longer scrape going in and out of my parking garage!

I too, like the standard suspension. Here in CO, most of the cars are "X" drive anyway. Coming from my '08 335xi, which was just plain harsh, while my '13 328ix took a little getting used to, I now like it. Great for a daily driver around here.

I too love the standard suspension for everyday driving on the F30. Nice supple ride with a bit of wafting float. It's still very nimble and agile.
I had an M-Sport 535i with the M-Sport suspension and I found it too firm and hard for a midsize luxury car. I had an E39 530i and to me the F30 is more in line with what the E39 felt like than the F10.
