90 seconds to win me over
Until yesterday I always thought seat heaters were for sissies, and an overpriced option - I never had them in my E46. And, in my Ford pickups, my a$$ was the seat heater. The only reason I selected the $500 option this time last year, was in deference to my wife.
I cranked up my F32 yesterday for the first time in a month. It was just above freezing outside when I pushed the seat heater button in comfort mode. It started to get warm within 45 secs, and was like a toasty electric blanket in 90 secs. I've been suffering from a cold and cough for about a week and when the seat heater got warm my mood dramatically improved and I had to take a 30 min drive - just because. Heck, I even considered sleeping in my driver's seat last night. You'll not hear me complain about seat heaters as an overpriced option now.

It's been "cold" in LA so the heated seats have been getting a lot of use. My outgoing 2008 335i it takes less than a minute to get warm. My wife's 2014 X1 takes less than a minute to get warm. And my just acquired 2015 335i takes... less than a minute to get warm. They all have seemed identical. My friends 2013 Mazda 3 takes 4-5 minutes to get warm, even on the hottest setting.

Mrs fastflyer loves heated seats so much she has them on full power constantly, even when she gets hot she turns on the AC before turning the seat off.

Heated seats are the dogs knob, great on those cold days or for those bad back days (MTB crash lol).
Mine take a couple minutes to heat up, however I tend to just start car in morning, heated seats and full heat blow, then just lock car and finish my coffee. Heated front screen would be nice addition though. |

For what it's worth, mine heat up quite quickly and I have to drop it to level 2 or 1.
Also, didn't read every post - but ECO Pro mode will reduce the heating output of the seats, so if you have it on level 3 [highest] and you're in ECO Pro mode it will not be as hot as the seats would be at the same level in say comfort or sport mode.

Fwiw, with 1700 miles now on the clock, both the steering wheel and seats heat up faster now. Guess they just needed to be broken in...

You can recode the termperatures for each of the three levels for the seat bottom & seat back for the front and back seats (if you have them); not hard to do at all. I have recoded my 2014 F30 front seats so that one of the settings provides alot of heat on my back and not much on the seat bottom -- great for a long drive! Will be happy to provide how to, if you'd like, here's a post that may be helpful to you: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=763271

So, can you code the seats to go hotter than 116º?
