can someone help me with this error? I am trying to code the HU CIC module in my friends car and i am getting this error whenever i hit "read coding data". I tried it in my car and it works fine. I have the 51.3 data files and his car is on i-step F020-12-11-505. Any reason why i would be getting this error?

I went into the VCM and read the i-step..Its weird cause i was able to successfully code about 10 things in FEMBODY module and a few in KOMBI without issue.. just the HU CIC wont work.

There is nothing weird about it. His HU_CIC uses a CAFD that you do not have in your PSdZData.

So, inject one you do have:

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Left-Click on HU_CIC => Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select CAFD from latest I-Level shown, => Select OK => Right-Click on HU_CIC (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Then you can go back and FDL Code this one.

I successfully coded my 2012 328i about six months ago. I went to dealer on Friday for oil change and they said they did some software recall. Well I lost some of my coding. I did not loose all of it.

I lost my seatbelt reminder disabled
I lost my folding mirror option from remote.

My TPMS, weather, band, navigation warnings, all work.

I just tried to recode using my 3.22.5 esys. It says Cafd not found. Do I need latest version of esys? Will I need new patch and token?

Yes, you will need to update to 52.1 PSdZData, which in turn means you need to update to >= E-Sys 3.23.4, and if you have patched Token solution, you will need an updated patch.

Shawn- i have the same issue; i went to the dealership and they updated my software and now i get Cafd not found. i am using 3.24.2 esys / psdzdata 51.0.5 ; do i just need to update my psdzdata? if so, do i still need to update my esys / token since i am using 3.24.2 esys ?

If you already have working 3.24.2, which is >= E-sys 3.23.4, then all you need is new PSdZData.
