3 GT
We had the opportunity to see the 3 GT in a private room in Brussels, without any disguises. It's quite similar to the sedan, at least the front, and similar but not so ugly and high as the 5 GT at the back. The headlights seemed to be those of the sedan.
Dashboard is also quite similar to standard 3 with a bigger (?) navscreen. The big difference comes from some higher roof and the huge leg space in the back seats. It feels like there's 10cm more than my F11. The room was not big enough and to cloudy to get a good general view of the car. No pics: we had to put our cellphones in special bags before entering the room. |

Interesting...
Also we've seen pictures that seemed legit of the 3GT, not that long ago. It was at the time of a photo or commercial shoot. Do you confirm that the 3GT you saw was similar to the ones on those pictures? I recall bigger headlamps, actually more handsome than that of the sedan IMO, still connected to the grilles. And a higher ride, but an ugly butt. Possibly frameless door windows. No pics of the interior I've seen, but I doubt it will be very different than that of the F30. Was this private viewing at the occasion of the car show in Brussels? |

Was there again today. Dashboard is identical to 3 sedan, but front of the car is indeed slightly different with bigger grill and a little higher.
Booth space is really big, but difficult to compare without another 3 aside. My son did confirm the huge place in the back seats. At least 5cm more than the F11. He doesn't like the car at all: "you need to be 60 ore more to drive such a car" There's also an electrical spoiler on the back end and those ventilation on the sides like the 4 coupé. Sitting in the back, i've 4 cm left above my head (I'm 1,82m). I would not change my F11 for this car. |

Did they happen to have an m sport version there? In that format the shots from LA recently looked ok
Shame about the interior; the 7er interior on the 5gt is superb and one of the major draws. Such a shame the styling is so awkard, otherwise the car offers a unique blend of space, luxury, practicality |

yeah I was thinking on going from my F10 to 3GT due to size, and if 3GT won't have 5er class interior, I'm not interested anymore. looked through some of the spyshot and it looked like 3er...

Well, I do understand those concerns. I left an E92 and went for an F11, but couldn't get used to the gigantic size of the car.
Finding a similar luxury finish in a 3 could have been an interesting opportunity to go back to a more usual size of car for someone driving in the city 50% of time. But, therefore BMW should consider also pneumatic suspension, comfort seats and a hole different dash-board like the new one of the 7. Anyway, we'll have to wait to see this new car aside the other 3s into the traffic and testing it before confirming how good or bad it is. |

so far my considerations: X3: pro: good cargo, about same size as 5er, bit shorter. con: ugly as hell inside out, not sporty. 3 GT: pro: good size, decent cargo, sporty(considering F30 and if it stays about same) con: basically chinese 3er LWB with different skin. cheap interior. F11: pro: same size, better cargo, nice interior con: same size... feels like driving a boat(F10) 5er GT: It's nice but it'll be last resort due to size 6er GC: love everything except size. new X5: I can't handle the size if it's bigger than current X5, it's already too big. spyshots so far seems to show nice interior... M135i: pro: driver's car, sporty con: small cargo I think this sums up my car-shopping list coming up next feb. people make fun of BMW making all these niche cars but they haven't filled mine yet |

I hear you! Very similar considerations for me. I hoped the 3gt would have the interior class of the 5gt, and be slightly smaller and prettier To your list, though, I would add F31 M Sport, with individual interior Pros: sporty drive, cargo ok Cons: still a 3er, rear seat room. Audi a6 allroad Pros: great engines, handling / ride compromise and interior, cargo Cons: as big as an f11 (though doesn't feel it to drive) Audi sq5 Pros: cargo, interior, biturbo diesel Cons: Audi steering, exterior styling a little bland Porsche macan To early to say! And yes, we are off topic, I know...BMW please answer our prayers and fill our niche and we won't stray! |

Looks real to me.
Doesn't seem so bad, actually. Then again, I'm somewhat intrigued by the 5 GT in M-sport guise. If you assume the interior gets more refinement than the standard F30, this car seems like a good alternative to the F31, and would have better driving dynamics than an X3. |
