2014 335ix cannot be coded
So I reached out to a fellow forum member recently to have my car coded. We met up this past weekend and every time he plugged his cable into my car the software could not detect my vin. We tried it on his 2014 328 and within seconds of plugging in the cable it connected and was able to detect his vin. I would really like to get my car coded but I fear I won't be able to due to some possible software issues with my car. Has any of you coders ever encountered this problem. This dude knows what he's doing as he's coded many many f30's so I do not question his ability. It's something funky with my 335 that appears to be preventing the esys software from doing it's thing.
Disclaimer....I have no technical knowledge of coding cars... So this is the best explanation I can provide. Apologies if it's a bit vague. |

For some unknown reason, sometimes you just can't connect to the gateway in the car. This happens about 5% of the time to me when coding other cars.
The solution is to disconnect the cable, turn the car off, get out, and lock it. Then wait 15-20 minutes for the car to go completely to sleep. Then try connecting again. This technique has always worked for me. |

So I'm assuming 2015's don't have an issue with coding, correct? And next time I should just follow as you said by waiting 15-20 minutes after locking the vehicle?

When we tried it on his car it fired up right away...but then again his car was sitting in the driveway and had not been started since the day prior. Perhaps I will reach back out to him and give it another shot knowing this information, The error message was that there was no vgc or vcg or v something detected. |

Good to know that I should have that issue resolved, as well as I can code i3's. They are pretty different looking and feeling. Not sure if I'm a very big fan of them for their design or their features for the price they are asking, but interesting nonetheless.

I already did that prior to the coding. And I coded another '15 vehicle that just took delivery still in break-in period. The '15 vehicle I couldn't code was older than the one I could code.
