I'm really struggling with bimmer-tech.
I purchased the code to update a few bits on my idrive such as Video in motion and start up screen changes to M sport.

I've got a 2014 330d M Sport and when I follow the step by step instructions when I start the car back up the idrive restarts but no changes show up.

I'm using a USB 3.0 flash drive and have tried FAT32 and NTFS formats with no results.

I'm getting nothing from bimmer-tech in terms of support, I'm starting to regret this purchase.

Should have just done it myself!

Any help would be gratefully received!

Have you tried giving them a call?

I've had my customers use similar types of solutions from our vendors and never had any issues.

Leave the USB in there for 40 seconds then remove it and turn off the car, lock the doors and wait for the Engine Start Stop Button to stop lighting up and start the car again.

Thanks I'll give that a try. This is driving me mad!

My friend, that didn't work I don't know what's going wrong!
I can only think it's the USB, yet the idrive is restarting so it's picking up the new file?!

Does the file show up as a *.tar file or a *.bin file on the USB? You might have to find a Windows 7 machine and copy it to the USB from there.

It's a .bin file.
I'm using a win7 machine.
I'm just buying a USB 2.0 stick to see if that's the problem.

I honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong.
This should be simple.

Better get a hold of Bimmer-Tech then. Good luck.

I struggled with it too at first but wasn't following the instructions exactly. Could be the drive but let us know if it doesn't work. I'm thinking file extensions next meaning they are set to hidden possibly?

The one thing that irks me is the fact they cannot be separated once you purchase what you want so it's all or nothing. After switching my startup screens to the 7-series, I liked my 3er screen more but now I'm stuck in a 7/3er at startup No big deal but it's annoying. I also never got the weatherband to work here in the US; doesn't even show as an option but all other updates worked. Box was checked and they confirmed it was in the file.

Hidden files, that's a good call.
I'm not sure how to check that though? :/
I just don't understand, I'm quite technically minded and normally this stuff is easy but I think I'm following the instructions to the letter but it just doesn't seem to pick up the changes I want.

What part of the instructions were you not following property maybe I'm making the same mistake!

If I remember correctly, they sent those instructions in an email and I wasn't waiting long enough in the beginning. Tried so many times, I thought I would break it so before completely giving up on it, I did exactly what the instructions said on a new USB drive with only that file and it worked. (if I recall, it said wait 40 or 45 seconds before shutting car off but please don't quote that haha) The drive was just a simple 4GB.

No problem, I'm work in I.T. so I'm used to it mate. To enable hidden file extensions in Windows, open ANY folder and at the top, you will see ORGANIZE. Click on that then choose FOLDER AND SEARCH OPTIONS. Under the VIEW tab at the top, look for the option that says "Hide extensions for known file types"....it is checked by default in Windows, which means it might not show that file extension. Uncheck the box, click APPLY then look at the file again. My update file looks like this (without the quotes of course) "UPD43102.BIN".

Hope it works out for you! If it's any consolation, I cannot figure out how to even get that E-SYS coding thing going and I'm an IT guy! lol, it's not as easy as it looked so I did give up on that. Guess I can live without the auto windows up/mirrors in when holding lock and the LED running lights -> was going to up the brightness at night and code the "brow" to be on by default. Lastly, I was going to unlock the 2TB.
