Me too on my E91.

What warranty company do you recommend, and what’s a reasonable cost for an extra 3 years? I’m looking at a CPO 228i for my daughter and was thinking I should probably do an extended warranty for her even though I never get it for myself.

The other option is having it towed to a junkyard where you might get a few hundred back if lucky.

However, any money you owe on car (if in that position) is still owed.

There are 3rd party warranties that are better AND cheaper than BMW Warranty (with no deductible) that will extend the warranty our 5-7 years.

What posters are forgetting as they talk about $15k engine and $6k transmission is that it pays for other little things along the way.

As I have previously stated, 9 months in to my 5 year EW, they have already covered 2 items worth slightly over $1k thus far. Both had to do with electronics.

I also believe the EW will bring me a higher price when I sell car to a private individual as it is transferable.

Thus at this point I see my breakeven only around $1500 more over the next 51 months.
Yeah but those aftermarket warranty are so bad/sketchy. You NEED to do oil changes every 3/6 months or like 5 000 miles at a shop they only allow.

BMW warranty I spoke with them and they said I can do maintenance at home and show receipts.

So in the end when I'm ready to buy the car, I'll try to haggle to get it for free. I'm still a bit disappointing it's only 3 years, I plan on keeping the car at least 5 years but we'll see, I'll take good care of it haha

I have actually read the contracts (including fine print) of a dozen or so EW Companies in the USA and NONE have requirements as ridiculous as you have posted here.

I guess that’s the difference in reading the contracts and believing fiction from god knows where.

FWIW, one of this forums most recommended 3rd Party EW Companies has some of the worse terms of them all, IMO, but that has to do with diagnostic charges and rental cars, not anything like you have posted.

It does make we wonder who actually reads what they sign and how much posted is similar to what your post stated.

It's not false. I searched for warranties here and it was like that. I inquired about them. I suppose that's how it is here.

Canadian Companies.

Guess that answers that as US Companies do not have that ridiculous requirement.

I bought my 2014 435i last year, no CPO. 45K Km and $45K...warranty runs out next month. I trust the car enough to believe nothing will break down but I plan to sell when I hit 100K KM.(knock on wood).

This is my third BMW, the other being a used 2006 Z4 3.0si and a 2009 328i coupe and both were out of warranty for years. No issues on either but mileage was both until 100K.

I'll take the $4k risk easily. The 435i has a pretty good reliable motor from what I've read, way better than the e90 twin turbos.

As for that Car/home insurance vs warranty analogy, you're forced to buy car/home insurance. Warranties, you're not. However if you compare to the options you have in car insurance (increasing liability, collision, free rental etc) which may increase your monthly rate, then maybe that's a better comparison.

Guys, does anyone have experience with TCA (Total Care Auto) extended warranty company?
My dealer is quoting 2k $ for the next 65k miles or 48 months on '16 340xi. Car still has over 30 months left on bmw warranty, though
