well said, a team that went with no expectations and achieved a lot more than everybody expected to (call it easy group or penalties or whatever you like) they still had to play and win matches.

Had England in work's sweepstake, really enjoyed watching some parts of their games, especially the 1st half of Croatia game was great, should have scored more than once though.

Pickford is one of my favourite players of the whole tournament.

I think today's result typifies our world Cup.

Harry found his level against Panama
We struggle against anyone from the 2nd tier of international football (and above!)
Our passage to semis was one piece of luck after another. (the eliminations and draw)
Only Iran had few shots on target than us
Kane - off the pase
Vardey -, no impact from the bench
Stirling - headless chicken
Lingard - best of a bad bunch but would get I to many European/S American teams

Unusually, the defence probably deserve the most credit however Jones should be only on the plane to clear the headphones and blankets on landing the useless Manc twit.

Belgium showed today how far we have to go and sadly I don't see this crop reaching the levels need to be elite. The brand of football, technical capability, confidence and overall persona/ethics - call it what you want -, will not match the top table of world teams for a very long time.

I really wanted an England final, even though I feel there was very little chance of it "coming home". We'll not get a better chance than this to meet a team like Croatia in a semi final. I think Belgium will be gutted they beat us in the group stages as I'm sure they would have smashed Croatia and set up a proper final. I wonder what Southgates true ambition was in that game.

He's scored as he got to a semi final by playing nobody. The 2 Belgium games had no significance resting on them and comes home as the waistcoat wonder kid.

Threads gone a bit quiet after it oddly got a bit personal.

Anyway.

Great final, 6 goals, worthy winners IMO well played France. Wonderful World Cup that actually had me genuinely interested again in International football.

I think VAR has been superb.

Can’t argue with that although VAR died right down as the tournament went on, which was no bad thing.

I think England found their level in this tournament but I’ve been invigorated enough to start watching them again and not being pissed off when there’s an international break.

Anyway looking forward to West Ham on the 12th...

Good final, I thought the handball was a penalty but all the pundits were sure it wasn't

: the foul that led to the 1st goal wasn't a foul at all, France showed more desire to win it and should/could have scored few more!

Have to say it wasn't the best tournament for goalkeepers though

that mistake by Lloris
