Good idea, and nice overall, but oddly, the details, which are often bmw's strong point, are a little odd. Side windows, the odd side vent and the front looks squashed in. Non M sport and a darker colour is way to go.

Outstanding.
Vince Gilligan, or whoever is picking the cars in that show, obviously has a great (and sneaky) sense of humor regarding the cars people pick to drive.

I guess that these days, the market is the world, and when you target 7 billion humans, you 'll find several tousands jumping on it, irrespective the sheer incompetence in design. On top, you're completely right, when you shop BMW, you have a dozen options for heavy pig, but really NONE for nimble, light and ripped. The best option is the (fugly) M135i these days. Where is the world going to??? |

It will be weird to see this car and the X4 side by side. Not really too much different, but if the renders are anything like accurate, the X4's proportions will be way better.

Also, I have to admit something. I'm not sure if I can come right out and say this.
But. It's growing on me. I have to go take a shower.

This car is ugly, yes, but that isn't what bothers me. I don't care about this car and would never buy it anyways. What bothers me is that it shows that something is very wrong in management at BMW, and these decisions are being made by the same people that are designing and approving the cars that I DO care about. That scares me.

I don't ever post on the site, but felt I should.
- The car isn't the worst thing ever, I even like the front end, rear, and the side vents don't bother me, although I would prefer the brushed metal to the black on my M. -I am currently not an American teenager, although I was in the past. -I think most of the angst toward this car is that it represents something that the enthusiast community does not want. That being said, some people may feel that its R&D/production cost may be keeping the models the do want from production or touching their shores. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE FOR THOSE IN THE NA MARKET. I don't want to see that $hit being the thrown in the face of us in the NA market- I would love a M135i, a 535D, a 5 series touring, a 1 series diesel, a 335d or 335i touring, but I am not allowed to purchase any of those. We still have the E82 1er here. Now I'm all for BMW branching out into untapped markets, but I would also prefer if the leveled the playing field and gave the NA market some of the great models we've been missing out on for YEARS. I'd pay 44k for a M135i with some options BMW. If you won't let me buy it, somebody will eat your lunch- and soon. Mark my words. I think BMWoA is largely to blame for the lack of models here North America, but I don't see giving half of your lineup to NA being sustainable for long. Those in Canada just get screwed by proxy. end rant Last edited by HoundForHire; 12-03-2012 at 04:08 PM.. Reason: spelling |

By "us" I guess you mean the customers that were loyal for years to a brand that used to mean something special, right? I'm not saying that BMW should only make M3's and M5's just to cater to the driving enthusiasts. That would be very stupid and very unprofitable. The problem is that BMW has betrayed their own roots just for the sake of profit and sales volume. Things like putting an engine from a lower model into an M car (N54 into the fabulous 1M), changing the 3 series coupe name to 4 series just to charge more money, every model gaining size, weight and numbness compared to the previous one, building atrocities like the 3GT and 5GT, building FWD cars, etc... are things that the BMW I used to love would NEVER had done before. Go ahead and fill every possible niche out there, but do it by sticking to the company's values, not by selling out. So please let your company know that a lot of "us" will be going elsewhere when purchasing our next car. Good luck with the Chinese. P.S. For those of you that haven't seen the pic below, it was a real BMW ad. No photoshopping was needed to make BMW look foolish. BTW, the sentence in the ad reads: "That's why we don't have front wheel drives". |

The beauty part about Audi is it canfocus primarily on performance because not only does it have the cash flow of VW but it also holds Lamborghini. BMW does not have that advantage so it mustbuild FWD vehicles and niche markets to create economy of scales on R&D costs.
