Can auto dimming be turned off

Can auto dimming of the rearview mirror be turned off? I prefer just a regular mirror at night.

Thanks, Paul

Can you turn the knob on the bottom of the mirror?

That's the flash alert if you have an alarm. The auto dimming cannot be turned off.

Do stripper models still have the clown nose manually control day/night on the rearview?

There's a hilarious thread on a different BMW forum I can't link to about this. Google "disable bmw f30 rear view mirror" and it should be the first link. Dude used the cut-up lid of a Tic-Tac box to make a flap that could cover or uncover the auto-dimming sensor.

Standard since 2013, IIRC.

Yes, they do. Easily distinguishable as it is black in color

That's a great thread but the basic premise is applicable. Cover the sensor and you disable the auto-dim feature.

Correct, and if the OP wants it more or less permanently disabled, then a small, neatly trimmed piece of electrical tape the size of an eraser nub would be sufficient to cover the sensor.

This is correct--there are ways to jerry-rig most things. But every other car I have had with auto dim mirrors has a power switch to turn the functionality off. OP just wants to know if he is missing something really basic that BMW decided their customers don't need.
