For 428 (or 328) Owners: Are you regretting not getting 435 (335)?
I don't plan on doing any horse power modification to 428 if I decide to get one.
I am not going to take it to the track. I do plan to order M-Sport Performance Package Thanks for sharing your thoughts. |

I researched a lot (including comments on this forum) before I decided on 328. For me, better fuel mileage and lighter front end, won out over engine note and power I will never use. The $3500 difference (with my build) was not a factor. One year later, still happy I went with the N20 engine. It's amazing. |

Zero regrets here. More than enough power and the fuel efficiency is great. I tuned my previous car but don't feel compelled to tune this one at all! Really great and flexible engine.

I hate the single exhaust and the lack of 442M wheels being available. Otherwise the car is fun to drive, not the most powerful car but definitely quick enough to get you into trouble. You can certainly get a JB4 if you want more power and not spend too much.

BTW, is 435's dual exhaust a 'true' dual exhaust or a 'split' at the end? Thanks |

The small vs larger engine used to give you other things. I think it was the e46's where the 330's got alarm, floormats, and leather standard. So upgrading seemed like a better deal. I'm under the impression this isn't the case with the F3X.
I drove both expensively with a 335 loaner for a week and a 528 previously. The 335 sounded better but I wasn't blown away by the extra power. For me I'd rather spend the money on options. That said - My next car will likely be a 535d only for the fact that I'm absolutely in love with the 413ft/lb of torque by that diesel. Petrol 535 doesn't do much for me. I ordered a 428 and don't regret not getting the 435 at all. |

A good way to test if you'll care is to a full throttle pull in 3rd gear from 60mph in a 35 and 28
I noticed, and got the 35. If you don't, you just saved some $! Last edited by nicknaz; 11-11-2014 at 06:19 PM.. |

Ideally I would have gotten the 435, and I would have been happier. But Cost wise I didnt want to spend above $600/mo and also the gas mileage would have been terrible, I drive too fast to get anything above 15MPG in a 6 Cyl. So it was a logical decision. Hopefully my next car is a 6 series or an M car so I definitely will make up for the lack of power but for now this works. Also I love the car and it isnt at all slow.

I had a 328 F30 and i sold it and got a 2007 335 instead.
I did it because i wanted a car without warranty so i can tune it as much as i wanted.

No regrets here.
11 months and 11,000 miles on my 328. I also don't take it to the track. Its my daily driver and our family car (F31). For me its the right combo of power and economy. I do miss the straight-6 sound (had a 2009 328 prior). Drive both back to back to see which one is best for you. A similarly spec'd out 335 will be about $4500 more than a 328 (plus or minus depending on how you option it out). All things considered that is not a huge diff. My mom had a 335 so I got to spend a lot of time behind the wheel of hers. In 95% of my driving, both felt equivalent. Obviously under WOT there was a difference!! Not enough for me to justify the added cost (we wanted to keep to 50k or below) and I was able to get more options that I get more use / satisfaction out of versus some extra power that I would rarely use. Again, everybody's needs / wants are different... |

I'm very very happy with my Msport 428i, not xi...I must say
It has the perfect blend of performance, handling and efficiency, which in my opinion is the true soul of BMW. It's hard to believe that a 2.0l turbo can produce such a satisfying drive whether you want a relaxed or spirited one, absolutely no regrets
