Mine seems to have been moved forward by a few weeks. Ordered 7th March, dealer now says build is week 25 and delivery expected week 28?

It can be frustrating when the dates keep changing. I am trying to forget about it and busy myself with other tasks

I think I've got the same weeks.

The 340i a Touring probably isn't a too common model. Maybe they do batches of them or something.

Does this mean you'll miss the MY17 updates by 2 weeks then?

They do seem to do them in batches. Not that I have a spreadsheet or anything...

Well it's now 4 months to the day since ordering.

Still at status 1100.

Feeling pretty uninspired by the whole thing at the mo

You must have the patience of a saint to still be waiting and not harassing dealer. I would be talking to other manufacturers about alternatives and likely delivery schedules by now... or looking for a storming deal on a run out 550i Touring....

Unfortunately you can't get the 550i in touring

Yes it looks likely to miss the new I-drive updates. Unfortunate, but I will get the car a few weeks earlier than was told only a couple of weeks ago!

I am not really that bothered as there is always the possibility of bugs in a revised system and the Carplay stuff to come later is really of no interest to me either.

Given I keep my cars for a minimum of 4-5 years (9 years and counting for the current one), whatever system is in there will look pretty antiquated when I come to sell on with the pace of progress in electronics.

That's a kicker mate. I was going nuts and only had to wait 10 weeks or so.

Just says delays at BMW's end. I don't need the car until September, but that doesn't mean I don't want it 'early'. 4 months is a lot of time for the fun of specifying and ordering a new car to wear off...

Oh and I'm thoroughly fed up with the crappy engine/gearbox in my current Merc. As much as I like the rest of the car, I really will be happy to see that gearbox lurch off or flair the revs into the no power-band zone for the last time.

Take a shot out in the Caterham, that'll take your mind off things for sure

Yes that does help (a lot!) when I can get out in it. Unfortunately the combo of work and a 1 year old (plus no family support) means time is very limited to get out in the Caterham. And then there's the weather...

I'm sure there is space for the 1 year old on your lap in the Caterham......

Oh damn, I thought you'd had your car ages ago Grant, sorry to hear! How long to go...?

Not entirely sure. Apparently week 36 for delivery, which is 2nd week in September. It will be interesting to get a finalised date from the dealer seeing as I'll be car-less (Caterham aside) from 1st Sept...

Karma? Strange perception of the word you have there. Anyone would think you held a grudge that I drove your car before you did. The perils of buying a second-hand car. Caveat emptor.

not at all mate - fully aware it had been driven - incidentally don't try going back to Sytner as I have a feeling you may be refused next time....

Hardly karma, you bought a second hand car, they always have an unknown history, but ignoring that, I haven't seen anything in Grant's video that made me think it had been mistreated. Do you really think journalists bother to wait for the oil to reach temperature? Do you really think the DEALER bothers to wait for the oil to reach temperature? I know for a fact they don't. I've had to stop dealers from revving cars with cold oil in the past, they don't give a shit. All you can take away from Grant having the car for a while is that you know the car will have been looked after during that time. If I were you, I'd be FAR more worried about all the hours Grant wasn't driving it.
