clutch going bad?

Whats up guys,

I have been under the assumption that I had a turbo leak or pressure leaving the engine some how. I came to this conclusion because when I am in say 3rd or 4th gear, especially going uphill, and gas the car (say to speed up past someone) ill lose power while my RPM's shoot up and then the car will seem to regain power and then continue to accelerate, although with seemingly less power than it should have.

I ordered a new ER charge pipe on black friday and will be replacing the stock this weekend as I've read this is bound to bust sooner or later.

If this does not fix the problem how high is the probability its my clutch? I am on the verge of buying extended warranty so I can worry less about bigger problems like a clutch going but still do not know if it is worth extending the warranty.

Thanks for your time guys

RPMs shooting up while loosing power and in taller, high load gears like 4th and higher is a strong indicator of a failing clutch. How many miles and mods on the car?

Also, it's VERY unlikely that an extended warranty will cover a wear item like a clutch, pressure plate, and dual mass flywheel. I'd be prepared to have $2,500 ready to replace these components.

59k miles, BMS CAI, BMS JB4 (plug n play)... i took out my tune which I'm gonna sell. Problem seems to be not as apparent as before when the tune was plugged in. Slowly gets worse tho as i push the car.

Going to install ER charge pipe tomorrow @home and look around for loose seals, cracks etc. Will update with results!

it's definitely your clutch. installing a charge pipe isn't going to fix the problem. your clutch is slipping. have you owned the car since new? 59k miles is really early for a clutch to go out.

Yeah that's the clutch. Tune has not much to do with it although it's not helping anything. I have had similar issues and I can tell you that for the most part extended warranty will not cover a clutch.

Is that a dealer purchasable aftermarket warranty?

It's the maintenance package. I bought my car CPO so got the +2 yr, +50,000 mile extended warranty and the +2yr, +50,000 mile maintenance plan. covers all the scheduled maintenance plus some wear items like brake pads/rotors and clutch.

Wow my dealership fucked up when they sold me my warranty. I should have gotten that instead of the warranty I got. I put miles on my car so the fact that I have 4yr 50k extended is pointless. 2yr 50k would have been better for me rn. I need brakes clutch done

the tune definitely exacerbates the problem. the more power he makes the more likely it is for his bad clutch to slip.

Well I can tell you I have slipped and glazed my clutch a few times and it doesn't happen when I back my car out of the garage or am just driving around like a normal person.... I'm 24 I have a heavy foot. You don't have to use all the power all of the time. These aren't Mazda miatas

uh, cool. i'm not sure what point you're trying to make, but slipping your clutch or putting a glaze on your clutch is a different problem than this guy is having. his clutch is failing, and it's causing it to slip when he's got the clutch fully engaged and he's under power.
