I have a 2014 428I XDrive with R title. car has about 24,000 miles. When car came off truck it had about 22,000 miles. When I started car the dash indicated that I would require service in 8,000 miles. After about a month the dash read about service in 7000 miles. Seems about right.
Started the car last week and noticed that maintenance schedule indicated 2000 miles until next service.
What would cause the drastic change in such a short amount of time and miles ?

Your driving regime is apparently harsher than the previous owner's. The service intervals begin at a nominal value, then move closer as the computer evaluates your regime.

Thanks for the replies. The car likely sat a long time while being repaired. Maybe that time sitting is accounted for in the service interval which could make floydarogers theory possible.
My driving style is actually pretty mellow with spirts of speed. Conservative and cautious in traffic but will open it up on open road. I have a 20 mile commute with very little breaking in the early morning. We have the USA record for snowfall and we have pretty cold temps right now so I have had to drive slow since I got the car in late November.

I've seen the service interval (oil change) decrease if I do more short trips..which would make sense since not completely warming up the engine puts more contamination in the oil that doesn't get evaporated/boiled off as it would at normal operating temps...

Now at 24,000 Miles. My front brake pads were at 600 Miles. Rear still showed 60K Miles. My inner front rotors are bad and need replaced. Unfortunately I learned that with the new pads.
Tried to reset the service interval with new pads. Tried 4 to 6 Times. Ran through screen, progress bar showed but ended with message “...unsuccessful...”
do I have to take to dealer to have them look at it after I replace rotors?
Why would back breaks show 60K? Any idea how many miles a brand new car shows for new back pads?
