BMW X5 towing question
I have searched for information on the BMW X5 option of 'towing capacity increased', which appears to be standard when the electrically deployed tow bar is selected as a factory option.
I am going to test drive a 2017 X5 tomorrow that has the factory towbar option and would like to know what changes the car has with the 'towing capacity increase' added. The dealer salesman answered with 'its so you can tow a caravan with more than 2 wheels'. Basically he does not know and can't be bothered to check. Any further information on the changes appreciated. |

Yes this, I asked back on the E70 Days. Dealer confirmed this.

I also believe they upgrade suspension on the rear to a firmer spring. I knew someone that always needed a tow bar but always had it fitted at the dealer rather than factory order due to this issue.

Had a test drive of the car this afternoon.
At first I was dubious whether the ride quality would be comfortable, as the car is on 21" rims, with fat rubber (325 on the rear, 285 on the front). The test drive proved the car was very compliant on broken surfaces and was incredibly quiet in the cabin. The adaptive was set in comfort mode, where it will spend 99% of its time. Thanks for the replies. |
