335 real world mpg
Ran a months worth of fuel data through a crunch today as my mileage upped to 3000plus business miles a month for a while
I am now doing 90% motorway and was surprised at how low the mpg was - don't know what I was expecting Lowest fill up 30.7 mpg and highest 32.7. My average has always shown on computer as just below 30 so I though motorway would be nearer high thirties Been trying mix of regular and super unleaded and results seem mixed - the highest was a super reading but so was one of the lowest - but have been switching between two Going to do a few runs dedicated super to see the effect May also try a week of eco pro and see what happens but fuck me that's boring (I did ten minutes and was struggling ) Just thought I'd share the findings |

I think you should change the thread title to 335i real world mpg!
Else people will think it's about the 335d. I'd have thought those mpg figures sound about right for an N55. It's not as efficient as the B58 340i.

Thought it was a diesel thread given mpg title? Obviously not.

I'm not saying it's bad - I've been bloody amazed since I have it
I think my expectations had become unrealistic as I'd nearly hit thirty mpg with fairy frequent squirty noisy accelerations The car is a marvel - I can't believe I still have it - 4 years in June |

Anyone post some figures for their 335dx? Just got mine and what I was predicting is a bit mixed. Filled up just south of London with £72, arrived in Edinburgh with quarter of a tank remaining but was in Eco pro for most of the drive. Doing a 15-20min commute, 10% urban and the rest dual carriageway, driving like an old man (like really really carefully) I'm only just getting 40mpg, thought I would be doing better than that? I know as soon as I start driving 'normally' (not mentally) it will plummet, didn't expect that, thought it would be around 40-45 easy with normal driving. Anyway, your shared experiences would be most welcome ta.

These cars just take forever to warm up, even in summer. Thats the key. On a 240 mile trip in summer, driving as hard as conditions allow, I got 47mpg. Thats a long trip for me and if I do the same style of driving for 60 minutes, i might get 42mpg if lucky. On a trip of 30 minutes, I may get 37mpg. 15 minutes its c32mpg. Town work and stop/start its 30 if lucky. Diesels seem to be designed for long trips and they then come into their own. |

37mpg trip computer showed yesterday on a 300 mile round trip, mostly motorway, driving like an old woman.
30 lifetime average I would say is a good result given the power/speed. |

Which is why the 330d is the best comprise of the lot. Plenty quick enough if you want it to be, yet I average 42-44mpg long term without trying. If I drive like a nanny, I can get the best part of 50mpg, but what's the fooking point in owning a 40k car and driving like that.

15000 miles I've averaged 32mpg in my 335d ! with a bit of man maths I think I will change it this year for a 440i it will only cost me a couple of hundred quid if that extra in fuel a year. even if I only get low 20's. My commute is only 13 miles each way
