Maybe I'm missing something but if the failure happened under stock boost, should BMW not be footing the replacement costs under warranty?

My CP blew off yesterday. I have it on temporarily with a screw tight generic clamp. It's on surprisingly tight now. I only have MPPK and dinan exhaust. Car still doesn't drive right though. It will be fixed under warranty.

What are the symptoms of a busted chargepipe? Is there a way to inspect the charge pipe while on the car. I have a couple of performance symptoms and I want to check if the charge pipe is related. Can I just look in the engine bay and inspect the charge pipe?

That was my car, lol its funny to find it on the forum. Estoril Blue F30 and I was running a Stage 2 JB4 tune with map 5 and 40% e85. It also has a downpipe from MPI (Miami Performance Inc.), Borla cat-back exhaust, and an afe intake. It ran like a dream till it blew the chargepipe. I replaced the damaged chargepipe with an ER chargepipe.

2014 F30 335i Charge Pipe Failure

I just had this happen. Car is stock. Check engine light came on and car went into limp mode. I had it towed in since it was barely able to accelerate. It was hesitating and jumping if I gave it more than 5% throttle. The car is a 2014 with 34K miles on it. Repair was warranty but still seems too soon for it to have failed.

What I dont want to happen is have it fail catastrophically where it needs towed to BMW and the tune is on (whether that caused it or not obviously isnt good)
I know you can tell them where to tow it too but it would obviously be a pain to tow it home, remove JB4, then tow it back
BMW should just add the option for the ER CP on the purchase options lmao

The CEL will usually only flash if its a substantial failure.. A small hairline crack might not leak enough boost for the CEL to flash, as the ECU will compensate for the reduced boost by working the turbos harder.

Stock boost? Yikes. Maybe I need to pick up a ER CP and keep it in the trunk just in case.

Mine just blew yesterday, on stock boost, at 25k miles. Kinda eerie how the break looks exactly the same as Chicken_Joe's. Ordered an ER replacement, kinda disappointed that x-ph didn't offer expedited shipping during the checkout process.

My '13 335i that I've had for 3 months just blew it's charge pipe that was just replaced by the dealer. I believe the car is stock. I bought it from a BMW dealer, but was told the previous owner "coded out the start/stop on sport mode". I'm not clear if that was strictly a coding job, or part of a tune.

So I turned a corner last night, and then went WOT. Around maybe 3rd gear (AT) I heard a pop, then a huge power loss surrounded by lots of whining/moaning sounds during revs. A drive train malfunction light was triggered on my iDrive. After a restart, I only had a solid engine light. I was able to drive it the next day to the same dealer, albeit driving like I was in Eco mode

If they only last 42k, where I'm at currently, I will be upgrading as well.

I've had one customer who replaced his charge pipe 2 times under warranty at the dealer and then on the third failure gave up and bought an ER pipe.
