I have a longer clip now. I have to tow the car back to the shop and not start it, I'm fearing rod knock, but the sound is very strange and not consistent like a rod knock would be? red circle highlights the noise

So, it's not rod knocking, but what the heck is this? Shop couldn't recreate it. Started happening when I got home again.

EDIT: this is most likely tensioner pulley rattle

Sounds like something is loose and rattling around, then almost sounds like grinding later on. You need a mechanics stethoscope or something to try and see where its coming from.

- Tensioner / belt / accessories
- timing chain/guide/etc
- top end (valves/etc)

I'm pretty sure it's the tensioner. Also, here is a picture of a belt that I have driven with for 100 miles. The edge shouldn't look like that, shouldn't it? The bottom tensioner is shaking a lot, so will have to replace.

Edit: It was the tensioner wobbling.
