Doors pins rattles.

Hi. 3 of my 4 doors pins rattles, it's the plastic pin that rattles against the plastic hole it sits in. There is just enough movement that certain bumps will cause the pin to knock into the surrounding material. Only one of the rear doors doesn't have the same problem as that pin sits under some kind of tension.

Does anyone has this problem and solutions.

Thanks in advance.

I had this problem with my E60 and fixed it by taking the soft half of thin Velcro strips, cutting them to fit the inside circumference of the hole and sticking them in place by stuffing the piece down the hole. Worked likea charm. My F30 doesn't do it. Yet...

It is a clever solution. I though to use velcro but it has no enough space.

Meanwhile my dealer said BMW order to change all 4 pins free of charge. But I am resilient because I am thinking it will be not durable solution, because the pin will knock into the surrounding material again.

+1 for Velcro. Are you sure it's the door pin though? Last weekend I pulled my door panel and found all the plastic clips were very loose and rattling. I put soft velcro behind each one and the problem was solved. Sorry, no pics. Also, the foo light (on the underside of the door) was loose. Popped it out, wrapped it in velcro and popped it right back in. Car is rattle free...for now. I also have an earlier post where I pulled off the plastic door handle and tightened the screws behind it.

Yes, when the bass is high they buzz. I changed the bass definition because of that.

No really, just minimize the rattle a bit.

Wow, it must take you a lot of time fixing that door panel. It is incredible how a BMW can carrie so minor defects. It's my 5th BMW (3er series) and this is the worse regarding interior cabine noises and rattles.

In my case is the door pin, a technician from my dealer verify the situation and putting the hand over the top of the pin the rattle stops. But thanks anyway.

Interesting. I have a rattle on my left rear door around that area that I can't figure out where's it's coming from (other than close to my ear). Will definitely check this out as a possible culprit.

When you remove the covers on the door handles to get to the screws, do you pry from the bottom first? I notice there's a little notch at the very bottom, out of sight. I'm wondering if you push the pry bar in that slot.

Things don't usually just start rattling for no reason, I'd pull the door panel and get a better look. Haven't done it on an f30 but it was very easy on e90, I imagine it isn't too different

Yes, pry gently from the bottom first. Once the bottom is out, try to pull the while handle straight out, or gently work loose in small steps. Getting it back on is a little pain, but not bad. To remove the whole door panel, pop up the piece that holds the window buttons using a trim tool or a flat-head screwdriver (it's just clipped in), then start pulling around the edges of the door panel. It pops right out. Easy to get back in too.

Also, the wires going to the window switches were long and dangling between the door and panel and may have contributed to some of the rattling. I taped them to the door before I put the panel back on.

How are you getting the electrical tape around the pin? Very little clearance.

My buzz is definitely coming from the right rear door near the pin area...but if I fix that, I may hear the trunk.

Unlock the door, put little tape, close the lock and cut the bottom.
When the door is locked you will not see the tape.
