Car should be here this Wednesday, and I honestly cannot help but feel like I may be making the wrong decision. I find myself constantly looking up the Q60 - it has so much character! I'm not a huge fan of the front end however. I can not say much about the 440i, as I've never seen one to spec in person. I wanted to keep things clean and simple this time around (coming from a bolted-on/tuned G37S 6mt), hence the 4. The driving dynamic in the 4 is definitely something special when it comes to comparing the two. Power wise, the RS has a good edge on the 4 without JB4, etc.. Just looking for your thoughts. PS not a fan of the 7spd in the Q either. Moving to LA; bought an automatic (with great preference to the ZF 8spd) for this reason.

I've got a friend who has the Q50RS and loves it. AWD version, I think. He's also got the upgraded steering, which has not received good reviews, but he loves that, too.

Personally, I cannot get past the looks, and have not cross shopped Infiniti on my way to ordering a 340i. I prefer a more classic design, less overwrought, I guess. The 60 does look better than the 50, though.

I'm sure you're gonna love your 440i!

what's up E....it's P. LOL

I've been helping a mutual friend of ours car shop over the last few months and unlike you, he sold himself on the RS. I've driven the RS a few times and while it's a fantastic car out of the box, it's not a driver's car. In my humbled opinion, it feels rather numb, un-alive if you know what I mean. The biggest negative factor for me though, was the cost...Even with dealership connections, you cannot walk out paying less than $65K. For that price, I would much rather buy a M3 which will run circles around the RS.
Now getting back to your 440. Do I think you made a mistake, not one bit. Sure, the RS has lots more tech and two turbos, but knowing you, you want a car which wants to be driven. With some basic mods...the 440 should fit your bill just fine.
Let's grab lunch soon so you can take my sedan for a drive.

Appreciate the response! I too, albeit initially, struggled to get past the looks of the Q50/60. They're oddly shaped, which only furthers its confusion to its own identity.

HAHAHAHA how embarrassing. Sup man?!! LOL
I couldn't agree with you more on the "driven" part. I guess the struggle here comes from only having 30 minutes of drive time in the 4er - I remember it being a blast. On the contrary though, I've had much more time test driving the RS. Just finding it difficult to actually remember how much I enjoyed either car I suppose? PS also agree on price point, but the 4er doesn't trail too far behind! Definitely could've picked up a '16 F80 for a smidget more. THAT also gets at me too, but...you know, some crap about being financially responsible, etc blah blah blah blah blah...LOL

The path that you're heading down...sadly, BMW won't be in your vocab. You'll probably be speaking Porsche, Maserati, Ferrari, etc words. LOL.

The mutual side of me says, proud to hear that you're being responsible. The last thing you need is more stress down in Ca.

Garage List
My 440 gets picked up at the PCD also on the 28TH. Did not cross shop the Infiniti, did that two cars ago.

Thing is if you have any doubts & are spending $50K now is the time to bail out & start all over again. Last thing you want is an expensive car you are sorry you bought & have to live with or take a big hit getting out of it.

Have you looked at the new Audi S5 Coupe or Sportback? If they came with a stick, that's the direction I would have gone. And I love my BMWs (see below!).

I cross-shopped the Q60RS for my last car. To add context, I'd had a 435i for 2 years at that point so I was directly comparing it to my daily. 1 month before the Q60RS was released in Canada last fall, I spent some time at Infiniti contemplating a pre-order on incoming dealer inventory. I test drove a Q60 3.0T as a reference point. The car is a head turner - absolutely stunning lines. The interior is okay - nothing to dislike about it. It reminded me a lot of my RDX. I was, however, underwhelmed from a driving dynamics standpoint. Drive engagement was lacking and the rumble of the outgoing G37 was absent. The car needed quite bit more oomph to be comparable to the 435. I quickly decided that the 'souped up' Q60RS wasn't fundamentally built with sheer driving dynamics in mind. I ended my Infiniti saga before it began. Obviously, everything I've said is pretty subjective and just my opinion.

Not to hate on the Q60 family, I still turn my head every time I see one on the road. My problem with the car is that is looks a lot sportier than it actually is. Would I buy one if I was given an absolutely crazy deal on it? Probably would.

I have a 340, and previously I had a Q 50. The drive compared to the two, the 340 is leaps and bounds a better driving car. The Q 50 with a little more comfortable, and pretty quick in a straight line. However I have more than pleased with my decision.

I was looking at the Q 50 RS, and drove in a bunch of times and every time it came up flat compared to the 340. Your 440 Should drive even better. Granted it's not drive the Q 60, but I have been told similar things between the two cars and those that are comparing BMWs to infinities. I think overall you've made the right decision

My cousin has had Infiniti G's in the past and always loved them (all leased) and then reluctantly got the Q50 once the G's were gone and thinks it's quite boring. He has the Sport and every time he mentions it he wishes he had his old G back.

I had a Q60 (with some options but not loaded) as a rental not long ago and equally thought how boring it was compared to my 428GC. My cousin drove my GC and now is in love with it.

Just sharing
