BMW needs to simmer down. Too much lineup change now a new configurator, I'm bored.

Was it on a trailer?

I just did roughly 700 miles on a trip in an M240 and got 26-27 mpg the whole way and "behaved" reasonably well with my right foot modulation

Yeah. I agree. An online configurator change is enough for me to change to a different marque. They've lost their way.

It's likely they changed it to make it more mobile friendly since most people use their phones and ipads to browse the web.
I hate that... I use desktop formats strictly. I prefer a browser view over an app any day.

I hate it too, but I get analytics for my biz website and it's 80% mobile these days.

Agreed. They've taken one of the better configurators and turned it into one of the worst.

I presume they'll iterate pretty quickly and get it back into usable form soon.

My 235i gets like 34mpg on the highway if I behave.

Depends on speed, too. Usually cruise around 65-70.

BMW's method of marketing their SAVs is baffling. I can understand the logical partitioning of the portfolio into product families and grouping the SAVs together under the "X" umbrella. But it becomes a mess when you improperly think of them as trim levels within a single model range. This configurator is a good example of what happens when you allow this type of misclassification to run amok. On a typical sized monitor, only the X1 is seen up front while everything else but part of an X3 is hidden away. How is that a good way to showcase the product? The fact is that these vehicles are no more related than the passenger cars are, and each should have their own subsection in the configurator just as each of the passenger car models does.

It feels like the configurator that Audi uses. I very much dislike this one.

What I'm saying is I was not able to build the same car using the new system that I built using the old system. The options and packages just aren't there (i.e. M-sport, dynamic damper control as a stand alone option). It seems when I try to add a stand alone option it'll change the interior color and trim.

If they're bugs that need to be worked out, then why roll it out to the public? Or are we just going to call these "alternative builds"
I was able to build just about the same M2 as I previously built. It is possible that they are reducing the options. The only interior color on M2 is black, but that is my favorite anyway. Very few exterior colors are offered.
