Nobody's got any TC issues to report?

I'm getting some new wheels and tires for my 2013 335i xDrive and wanted to run this by the gurus on here:

19x8.5 Front and 19x9.5 Rear. The wheels only come in a ET35 or ET45, so I'm assuming I go with ET35 in front and ET45 in rear, correct? Will that give me the more concave look in the rear without much poke or rubbing? (I'm lowered on Status Gruppe coilovers to about 0.25" wheel-arch gap left in the rear and 0.75" gap left in front, and I'm looking at the MPS4S in a 235/40-19 and 265/35-19.)

Thanks, guys!

Fred

seems like most the folks in this tread are long gone but thanks for the contributions as it's been immensely helpful in my tire selection for my xdrive.

x-drive requires the difference in front and rear tire diameters to be 1% or less(same diameter is best). so 255/35/19 square will work

aesthetically it may look odd since you will be 10mm overwidth(slight bulge) up front and 10mm underwidth(slight stretch) in the rear. if this doesn't bother you then it's all good.

with 8.5/9.5 i'd just go 235/40/19(10mm stretch front), 265/35/19(perfect fit rear). 26.4"/26.3", 0.4% diameter difference and acceptable for your x-drive.

Hey guys,

So I'm looking into getting some new rims but mounting them on the original Pirelli tires that came with it. I believe the tires are 225/45/R18. Correct me if I am wrong. (they came with the turbine OEM rims).

Im planning on getting Niche Misanos, 18x8.5 for the front and 18x9.5 for the rear with 35 offset. First of all will these tires fit properly on these rims? Is stretching the tires a good idea? Is putting these exact square tires on these exact staggered rims a good idea? Will I have any issues with the xDrive down the road or jittering while driving it?

Thanks in advance

for a 9.5" wide rim, 265 is the optimum width to use. if you try to stretch a 225 on a 9.5", it will be stretching the tire 20mm each side(40mm total) to seat the tire bead and the rim edge will be exposed. please don't do that.

best bang for your buck is firestone firehawk indy 500 in 225/45/18, 255/40/18, front and rear, 26" diameter will work for your x-drive.

or use your original pirellis on the front and buy the same in 255/40/18 for the rears if you want to save money

Ok so for the front I should be good. For the rear, stretching is definitely not an option then. Either I get 8.5s for the rear, or I get wider tires for the rear. Thanks for the reply

fyi, niche misano comes in 18x8 +40 or 18x9.5 +40. 18x8 will be flat faced(no concave) and at +40, will be 6mm more "tucked" than oem. but yes, 18x8 all around with 225/45R18 square will work

So do you think I should put a 6mm spacer in the front to make it flush with the fender? Since the rears are going to be much wider, how much do you think they'll stick out, if any? also, whats the best tire size that I should get for the rears to keep everything under 1%?

a 6mm spacer will only put it where the oem wheels are now. if you want it more flush i'd say at least 10 or 12.5 mm spacer (with extended lug bolts, of course). 18x9.5" rear will be almost flush and not stick out. you will have to get 255/40/18 for the rears to keep the front and rear diameters equal as possible(< or = to 1.2% difference), 225/45/18 and 255/40/18 both are same 26" diameter so you're all good.

So it sounds like I’m kind of SOL thinking I’m going to be all set buying a set of 19x8.5 fronts with 245/40r19 and 19x9.5 rears with 265/35r19 and being able to throw them on my xdrive

245/40-19, dia. 679mm
265/35-19, dia. 669mm

The front tire size is 1.5% taller than the rear, not good with xDrive.

Well depending on tire condition when I buy the set I guess I’ll hope I can just buy new 235/40 fronts and keep the 265 rears. I think the 235s will put me where I need to be

Garage List
This is strange.

My original setup on my 428i XDrive was 225/50/R17 and 235/50/R17 which comes out to 1.52% diameter difference (26.3" vs 25.9") while my current is 255/35/R19 and 225/40/R19 (26" vs 26.1") a 0.38% diameter difference. It drives GREAT.

They're gonna tell me that a bigger difference is better for XDrive? LOL

Looking for suggestions...
I recently purchased a set of 437m wheels with tires. Rear tire size is 275/35-19 and both have ~8.5/32nd tread left. Will I have any issues if I just purchase two 235/40-19 tires for the front?

235/40-19 = Dia is 671mm
275/35-19 = Dia is 676mm (used tired minus 1 or 2 mm?)

Difference is less than 1%... Estimated 0.6-0.8%?

What do you guys think?
