Nope :/

Going to see GSR Autosport to have them give analysis and possibly reflash. The strange thing is I put 3.5 gallons of e85 and filled the rest with 91oct and it resolved about 99% of that problem. I'll know more soon after I visit them.

So 3.5 gallons of E85 without any flex fuel etc?
Maybe its the 91 not really great with all that power

No fuel flex and it's running like a champion with a little e85 and the current tune. I've only done it for a few tanks and so far no problems. 91 is seeming to be the problem. I tried Chevron, Shell and even Mobile so it not that I'm getting bad gas. Additionally, with the e85 my DV is not dumping boost making it seem like I have a leak. So what ever signal was protecting the engine by dumping boost, closing of the TB butterfly aka stutter was eliminated with higher octane. GSR will be looking at my car next week.

Stubok I just got Enzo 300R+ Performance pkg

I just got my X3 xDrive28i Enzo 300R+ Performance package
EnzoTuned ECU Calibration, Enzo Performance High-Flow downpipe, & BMC Air-Filter

Was curious were you able to see how much max boost your tune is running?
I haven't checked yet but I did take a peak at TorquePro and it showed 20 on mine.
I've ran much higher 22.x - 23.0 with RaceChip so wondering if too much Boost on the tune could cause issues on the N20.

All I can right now is WOW! RaceChip is already way smoother than other Stage1 tunes and if this is just WAY more Linear! And power keeps climbing and climbing.

I'll open a new thread soon with some clips from their downpipe etc

OBD fusion app says I'm getting to 22psi.

Glad your enjoying the flash. You are right in that it is very different from the piggyback. I'm also very glad I went this route.

This is interesting. Didn't know you could put e85 in.

If I really push my N20 hard below 3000rpm on a really hot day, and in high gear I sometimes hear some blowoff too. I guess that's the engine preventing over boost and protecting itself from preignition.

It hasn't been regular enough for me to do anything about it, and the S55 plugs resolved the main issue and 99% of this blowoff. Also now I just drop a gear before punching it. So don't put my engine in that awkward position.

Might put in a couple gallons of e85 just to see what happens in this unusual circumstances. Not something I'd bother to do regularly though.

So Stubok, given what you know, would you go the same route? DV, tuning, etc?

Given what I know now, I would still pretty much do the same thing, just a more direct route.

1) Upgrade FMIC and charge pipes. I like the ATM stepped core FMIC and ER's charge pipes.

2) Drop in AFE ProDryS filter

3) High Flow Downpipe. I like the Catted version as there is no smell. I tried both and they felt just as powerful. So if you don't mind the smell then save $400 and go cat-less.

4) Upgrade Diverter valve with GFB DV+

5) Tune with GSR or Enzo Flash & Switch Plugs for S55-M3 plugs.

I'd probably do 3 & 4 together since it's much easier to get access with the DP removed.

Have to check out the AFE filter. Easy/cheap enough

I think I asked this elsewhere..do you think the S55 plugs could trigger a "Hmmm...these don't belong there" type attitude during a dealer visit if they saw them? I wonder if something like that would trigger more investigation even if you can't see a flashed tune. I suppose ONLY if you had driveability issues. Seems like they would have to be added to the list to swap back to before any CELs might need addressing from a dealership, even if a BMW part.

The ENZO tune is appealing sounding..although GSR is in my backyard relatively speaking where I could drive it to them. Enzo would be a bit of a long ass haul lol and having my car down a week doesn't sound like fun to me in the least.

Can't go catless in SoCal...smog police would laugh and auto-fail the car no doubt.

I wish a magazine would run a GSR/ENZO/RACE Chip comparo. That'd be fun to see !

Yes, met them a few times, I know many ppl who have their tunes on N20 & N55, plus seen how those EnzoTuned destroy the other piggyback guys at the drag-strip.
Also it just made more sense since they are only about an 1-2hrs drive d

I have no complaints on my RaceChip and I still have it actually. I like the fact that I can take it with me to my next Petrol engine plus I never got a CEL or any other type of issues. 8k miles on the RC
But after getting these Custom Downpipes (No Fuel Smell here), Cold-Start Delete (Although going to get it reflashed to have it back on) I wanted to see the difference in my car, the ECU Calibration by Enzo is running on the safe side @ 20psi. They asked how aggressive I've ran this engine or how much can it handle, so I'll be going for a 21.5-22 psi range.
The downpipes and bmc air-filter def adds a nice sound to the car.

+1 I like these questions on the S55 plugs, I spoke with mge92 today on that. He wants to replace his stock for new stock ones, I mentioned he should go S55.

That would def be a nice comparo!

Wait, so you guys are running E85 without the flex fuel wires, but you guys running the GSR tune? And no problems whatsoever so far?

Normally you can do up to 40%, but that's really testing the limits of your fuel pump and injectors. Plus, that was in my e90 days when the standard was JB4 map 5 and using the 40% technic. Since my fuel tank is 17 gallons I tested with a 20% ratio which is roughly 3.5 gallons. So far it's been amazing, but going to visit GSR this Thursday and get the tune back on track for pure 91. My MPGs have gone to hell.

I got them off eBay. Some BMW dealer selling them individually instead of in packs of 6. I think someone shared he link I gave them on another N20 thread. Pretty sure you commented on that one too

Got the thin walled deep socket from ECS Tuning.

I tried 10 liters ~2.75 gallons of e85 in my tank over the weekend. That went in before the fill up of 93.

328 tank is only 60ltrs - 15.9 gallons so about 1/6th of a tank. Which should keep total ethanol content fairly low. 10-20%.

Can't really detect if it has made any difference in performance. If anything it is ever so slightly smoother in higher gear under full load and WOT. A place I wouldn't take the engine anymore anyway.

So seemingly it's the 91 that the tune doesn't like.

Oh and because of the need to give it a proper chance I hammered it in all gears, so fuel economy also pretty bad this tank. :

Stubok it's really noticeable for me in acceleration, smoothness in all gears, no dumping of boost mid-gear/s and top end is much quicker. Just went back to 91 and the stuttering is back, but not as bad probably because of my drop in filter and DP. Can't wait for this Thursday and reflash. I'll miss you e85.

okay my turn!!!!!

After a highway pull, I received the dredded "drivetrain malfunction" .. after pulling off the next exit, I noticed the vehicle was under powered. I was only boosting up to 10psi and spool from the intake was much louder than usual. I checked on jb4 interface for codes and I saw 120308 popped up. I also did a log pull afterwards and I noticed a 0 duty cycle. Soooo vacuum? I also performed a proper smoke test... No leaks. The impeller of the turbo looked great. I do suspect either the pressure converter (epdw) or the diverter valve. I have attached a link to what the car sounds like under load. Please let me know what you think!
