Help please! Podcast issues with iDrive??

I have had my car almost two weeks now and I am having issues playing podcasts (Tech Package). I have an iPod Classic connected with a USB (I tried an Apple USB and Belkin USB).

The iDrive recognizes the podcast and begins playing. However, it stops playing after a minute or so. It reverts back to the external sources screen.

I searched this forum and couldn't find anything. Is anyone else having the same issue?

Thanks in advance!

I used my iPhone 5 via USB in armrest to lisent podcast via Instacast with out any problem. Could it be an app compatibility problem, witch one you are using?

I have a 4s but I'm too lazy to keep plugging it in. I put my old iPod Classic in the armrest so I would not have to unplug it. There is not an app with the iPod Classic - the podcasts are just incorporated.

I plan on using my 4s as my "iPod" once the 5s and/or 6 comes out this fall. That will fix my problem, but that's 6+ months away!

I use bluetooth streaming on the 4s for my Podcasts and it works great! I keep the phone in my pocket and the podcast automatically pauses when I turn off and leave the car and picks up where it left off when I return.

I also have an iPod touch connected to the USB for my music and have mapped a couple of the 1-8 buttons to switch between the two audio sources.

It should work with the 4s, try connecting the iPhone and after iDrive ID it start the podcast to see if that's the problem. At least that is how I have fix some issues when playing Pandora.

Also you can try as chriskd said, via BT.

I'm trying to avoid using my 4s. I just want to keep the iPod in the armrest. I can stream it via Bluetooth with the 4s, but want it all in one spot (my iPod). Again, I'm lazy!

Thanks guys. I will prob just stream via Bluetooth in the end.

It's a iPod Touch? Because it has BT.

I'm lost. I have two devices: (i) 4s that I did not want to use for BT and (ii) iPod Classic that I want to keep in the armrest and use for all of my music, including podcasts. iPod Classic does not have BT.

Thanks guys.

I plugged an iPod classic in after I got my F30. It no longer works and does not power up. I think it's because iPods do not like to be in charge mode all the time so be careful with this. I have an old iPhone in the centre console now and it's been ok.

I had the same issue but I reset it and it works again. I have had this iPod plugged in 2 previous cars for 5-6 years without any issues. And the podcasts worked in my 2010 TSX.

I plan on using my 4s in the console once I get the 5s/6 this fall. Easy fix but that is months away!

Fixed the issue. Converted the podcasts to AAC. They show up as albums now. Haven't had an issue since.
