OBD2 And F30 - What To Do

Hi guys

I'm trying to achieve something relatively simple and see what degradation state my 330e's EV battery is in (it's a 2016 F30 so I'm guessing it's degraded!).

I purchased what is probably a cheap £13 OBD2 unit from Amazon but I'm now thinking maybe it doesn't work properly as I can't find ANY details about my EV battery in Car Scanner or similar apps. Would something like a vGate iCar of vLinker be better or should I still be able to see what I need to with this?

Additionally, what other cool things can you do/should you do once connected?

It's all to do with what app you're using really; more than the dongle itself

Have you seen if Bimmerlink can do what you need? The Vgate dongle will work with Bimmerlink (it's a very handy tool to have TBH, that and Bimmercode)

There is app on iphone called mi3 that should show you, no idea which to get on android if that's what you use.

Honestly I found this out in 30sec on Google search

Also regards your other thread battery and range I would say is normal, maybe the real world range was that high when battery was new, all batteries degrade over time, is not a car you buy for electric range from what I have been reading in past.

Yup, I'm using Android, but I found this also. I'm just wondering why with the PBD2 module I have and a bunch of apps like Car Scanner I can't find anything about my PHEV battery

There are hundreds of free OBD2 apps that offer limited functionality. Bimmerlink stands out as one of the most comprehensive apps for BMW vehicles, evident from its name, which indicates its specific focus on BMWs. However, Bimmerlink comes with a fee and has certain limitations. The most powerful software available at the dealer level is ISTA+, but it is designed for use on PCs, and utilizing it requires a more involved process

ISTA+ every time. All you need is a 15 quid cable and a Windows laptop, the software is freely available and really not difficult to get going
