Advice on 328 M Performance please

Hi all, I've decided to finally pull the trigger on a BMW.
I've decided on the 328, looking at getting a demonstrator and then fitting it out with the M Performance splitter, side skirts, diffuser, etc. Seen a few here and they just look amazing.

My question is, before adding the M Performance kit, is it worth getting the M Sport? Will it make any difference given I'll be adding the kit anyway? Will the only (remaining) difference afterwards be what it say in the door sill? Any other differences I should look out for that mean I need the M Sport?

Thanks for your help.

There are some differences from the Standard, Sport, Luxury and Modern line. The main feature would be the aesthetics of the M-Sport Body kit.

I think it's worth getting the M-Sport if you want to go the full M Performance Kit.

Differences:
Front & Rear Bumper
M-Sport Steering Wheel
M-Sport Side Sills
Blue Accent trims
M-Sport Rims
M-Sport Brakes
M-Sport Suspension
Shadow trim exterior
Anthracite Headliner

Finally I think the splitter, diffuser is only compatible on the M-Sport models.

Last two are Individual options (or at least they were when I built my car and had them fitted, might have changed)

I'll let you know how I go in the next month or so.

You can always change the steering wheel if you find the car you want that doesn't have ute performance steering wheel.

The F20 M Performance wheel is a direct swap.

If possible look for a car with Variable Sports Steering and the HUD, as well as those items mentioned above.
These additional two may be a little rare, but worth having.

As much of a technophile as I am, I actually found the HUD a little distracting, maybe I'd get used to it. I've driven an M235 with VSS however and really liked it so, yes I would go for that if I could.

I'm also now thinking that, for resale purposes, maybe it's just better to pay the extra and get an M Sport.

Thanks again everyone.

I was thinking on the way home how much I love having the DAB tuner fitted. With Double J now available as well there's a much better choice of music available.

Chuck why don't you just do a factory order?

Agree on DAB. Just got a Sonos and digital radio at home and it's so good.

As to factory order, at risk of getting flamed, I just can't justify the premium for it when I can get a demo for so much less, with very few K's on it and am still the first "official" owner!

depending price difference and on how willing you are to modify the car within warranty you might want to consider getting a sport line or modern line and get the M Sport body kit if that's the main thing for you.

you could end up saving a fair bit.

just a thought

I still reckon it would be cheaper getting a M sport car, than retrofitting it later. I did that on my car earlier this year, got the 'external look' but still missing a lot of interior features. ended up selling it, and getting a 328i m sport

I had a loaner car the other day to replace my 328i MSport. It was a 320i standard, not sure what line.

Comparing the two was chalk and cheese. Engine and aesthetics aside:

Steering wheel felt like plastic crap
The standard shocks made the car feel vague
Standard seats nowhere near as nice as sport seats.

So when you add in the aesthetic benefits, it would be a no brainer for me. Go the M!
