Ouch!!!!

My ETA is 12 Nov. I've emailed them as I'll be away in Nov.
Dec 17th delivery will be fine for me. I wonder if they'll agree.

The other one's ETA is 17 Dec, so delivery will be just before Christmas!

Actually, you make a good point there. The build week actually doesn't' matter, it's the dealer delivery week that matters since that's when it'll be registered

My DD date is W46 which only leaves 6 weeks buffer Hardly surprising then that some orders aren't going to be fulfilled, especially if BMW have suffered a 4wk delay somewhere.

Still absolutely disgraceful on the part of the lease network to not honour their agreements

I too think they have behaved disgracefully with the OP.
They need a good slap.

Just to point out build slots are either for petrol or diesel.. not 4cyl/6cyl diesel/petrol. You can just pick a bulid slot for a 320d msport and change it to a 330d msport.. or you certainly could on the E9* cars.. has it changed for the F3* cars.
So i dont know where the information is coming from. Though once you pick one of they slots, and amend the spec it can push it back a few weeks.
It usually takes 3-4 from being bulit to dealers.

Irnbrukid - that is my understanding too i.e. you get a 'type' of build slot ie petrol or diesel and then you can spec as you require once you have the slot.

On this matter, I asked a 'friend' at a main BMW dealership today if I could get a 330d before christmas and he said yes, probably. They are only finalising their slots now for the rest of the year. I asked if it would be eaiser to get a 320d slot and he said it didn't make any difference, you book the slot based on diesel or petrol only.

I have no reason to not believe him...therefore I feel sorry for those that are getting screwed with this 330d deal falling into next year, they must have been able to secure a diesel slot. Why take orders when you can't guarantee delivery - very annoying!!

There's a shortage of the 6cyl diesels though, hence the limited 300D slots

I am getting another update tomorrow....am fearing the worst....

But I do have a few plan B's ready to go, including a M3, a 335i 'vert or a Porsche boxster.

Still, I hope the 330d is on track!

I've emailed my broker the contents of the OP to see what she says ... she might be able to shed some light on it. She's very helpful

-edit- She responded straight away and said they've heard nothing but are going to contact BMW direct to make sure everything's OK

Yes you're right.. thats me talking from experince of having bought around 10 new bmws over the last 6-7yrs.
Even if that dealer has no build slots they can get one from another dealer in their group, or even one without if they will give it up!

So its just the engine thats in short supply not the cars. I think i can remember last year that some manufacturers had some supply problems with cars with certain paint and electronics due to the tsunami in Japan. But it seems BMW just can build the 330d engines quick enough.

Anyh00 - I got a reply from my broker regarding this matter ...

Quote:
Karen passed on your email I have been in touch with the dealership and they have re assured us that the BMWs we have on order with them have no major delays, they once again have informed us that your vehicle is due to arrive at our supplying dealership on 12th November 2012 this is still currently an estimate. We rely on the dealerships to advise us of the expected dates of arrival and we believe that we have a good and honest relationship with them and we are sure that they inform us of any delays ect.
Looks like I'll be OK but I feel for the guys who got their orders in after August

If it helps I will volunteer to have a more readily available 40D or 50D engine fitted to mine......I'm good like that
