Dealer Scratched my wheel
Long story short, the local dealership put a nasty chip in my car's wheel, and scratched my brake caliper.
After some arguing, they offered to have the wheel refinished. When I voiced concern about the refinished wheel possibly not matching the original ferric gray color (an experience I've had in the past with OEM BMW wheels), they didn't exactly inspire confidence. What would you do in my situation? Demand a replacement wheel, or go for the refinishing? |

I would let them try to fix the wheel first and if it's not to your satisfaction, then demand a replacement wheel. If they refuse, tell them you would like to make a 3rd party claim against their insurance. Dealers carry insurance to cover damage to customer's vehicles while in their possession. It's called Garagekeepers Legal Liability.

I think I may request that they order a replacement wheel, and if I get push-back on that then I will let them try sending it out for refinishing first. |

I had two wheels refinished in the past on my e90 and they did not match. That was from one of the largest refinishing companies in the US. Luckily I had a front and rear re-done so I just put them on the same side. Good Luck and remember they screwed it up not you so they should make it the same as it was when you dropped it off.

I went through the same thing with my dealer. They gave me a loaner and had it refinished within in a day. It was perfect. I suggest you give them a chance.

Went to the dealer today to pick up my car with the wheel refinished. It had been refinished "Matte" instead of "glossy" and didn't match at all. They have ordered a replacement wheel. At least they're making it right!
