No and grats.
Read your manual about operating temperatures. Better still, read the whole thing. Nice car, isn't it? Last edited by MikeVictor; 10-11-2012 at 06:58 AM.. |

Comparing to my N54 engine the N20 runs a lot cooler. It ran at 115 +-5 for the most part.
Given you've already done 640km there's nothing stopping you turning it up to 11, your tyres and brakes will be worn in by now. |

Funny how this thread brings back memories from 7 years ago when the E90 posters were pretty much up in arms about the lack of temp gauge on the dash. No doubt the reason BMW brought it back for the F30.
The E90 has a number of temp sensors in & around the engine measuring different temp levels, so a single temp gauge was not practical. At least this is what I understood the reasoning to be. So now that the gauge is baaaaack, it is probably just a guide gauge because there are probably multiple temp sensors in the F30. So is everyone happy to see the needle at the half way point rather than below it? If so, why? Personally, once I see where it settles after a number of uses, I am not fussed as to its up to temp position. I'm looking forward to it.

Nice one sherv! That looks so familiar it's not funny, lol. Good choice the black sport line. Your pics capture it well. How do you like the interior now that youve seen it in the flesh? Did you get the 3 yr/60k free servicing?

Thanks fellas!
The interior is fine, the silver doesn't stick out as much as it does in photos, but piano black would still go better around the wheel and gearshift. All up, I reckon it's hands down one of the most up there interior combos on the f30, but hey that's my personal opinion! Also yep got the 3 years service, I'm guessing you did too? They apparently go as far as replacing pads which is not bad! |

Missed out on that one unfortunately. Bought mine at the end of June before they started that deal. Sounds alright. I think its about time BMW offered something like that from a competitive point of view. But yeah, I'll probably be changing the brake pads myself

My temp is spot on 100 degrees, it's a diesel but I was always under the impression it was meant to sit on 75. Any 320d guys have it on 100?

Remember it is NOT an engine coolant temperature (ECT) gauge, it is the engine oil temperature. So will be cooler than ECT when on short trips and higher than ECT, once the heat soak gets in the engine. That is definitely designed to confuse more drivers. BTW, a diesel will be around 88 - 92C ECT, in average use. HighlandPete |

Yeah man she's all run in now, couldn't resist, was at a 3 lane set of lights next to my mates in 420kw evo9 and a 450kw fg typhoon ute....
.... Went much better than I expected actually for a stock car which averages 9.5l/100.... Must be getting old, quoting fuel etc, but it beats the 25-30l/100 the other cars get What's the 335 like? Then again, you live in Qld, you don't know the meaning of traffic! |

Yeah, we dont have traffic up here. We only just got sealed roads
I'm averaging 11.5 now the car's been run in. For the first 2500km I was getting 10.1. Quite impressive because I'm not driving it to conserve fuel. By comparison my n52 325i was in the 13s, with a lot less performance. If I used eco pro mode a bit more I reckon I could get close to you 328i boys... unfortunately I'd probably fall asleep at the wheel and veer off a cliff.

That's pretty good, as we have had sealed road for so long that the high amounts of traffic have unsealed it... That's awkward..
Yeah the old 2.5 is a thirsty nugget, but for us 328i boys the noise it made getting nowhere fast was all bloody worth it. I still get 13.7l/100 in the e46 Getting moar and moar pics: |
