Kinda bummed Audi is finally above BMW in the current gen's comparison, but at the same time, I love both companies.

I have a 2009 Q5 3.2, and 2013 X3 N20, and from the standard features, I knew immediately Audi knew what emotions they wanted to evoke from their customers. Granted, the BMW is MUCH more agile (which is why I went with it), the Audi is "homier" while still keeping up.

I payed more for the X3 (probably because I added features the Audi came with, and some w/o), but got less standard features. :/

Should have been a S4? But then you're have a 30hp more powerful Audi as opposed to a 30hp weaker Audi....there is no true apples to apples comparo for these cars. THis is about as close as you'd get because the S4 is a premium vehicle and uses even better materials than the A4

$65 is about what it costs in Canada.

5.5 makes sense cuz all the sub-5 times were not from a dead stop.

That isn't a regular A4... Our A4 has a 2.0T. This one has a 3.0T. What's going on here?

Am I the only one who noticed this was EVO Middle East and done in Dubai? They don't use US currency over there people. I thought that was common knowledge.

What going on here is that manufacturers don't share the same engines across all countries. Did you see the cars shown in a desert? That should have been the first hint this wasn't in the USA. The second hint should have been the words EVO Middle East printed across the page.

That is not an Audi S4, here in Canada and the USA we have ONLY ONE engine for the A4 which is the 2.0L 211 bhp, while they used to offer the 3.2L that makes 265 bhp but they pulled it back in 2009 and NO IDEA why they did that.

It says Dubai on the plate so its UAE, also manufacturers don't share engine yes but they also offer different models in other countries and they do not offer them here in Canada and the US! For Audi, they didn't send us the old RS6 back in 2008 and they are not offering the A1, A2, A5 sport back, A6L and just this year they started to offer the A8L. Same with Mercedes and BMW. No A class, not CLS so-called shooting brake and I'm sure you know the models that BMW doesn't offer here.

The USD is around 3 UAE dirhams so IF you are paying 65k for a car, thats around 180k!

IF you go just north of the border into Canada, you can pick every option on your 2013 3 series and it will hit 72k! And im not talking about taxes, because if I do add taxes, you will be paying almost 84k! Because lets face it, its money coming out of your pocket. And dont forget that the CAD is higher than the USD, so do you see the irony here?

I don't think they have and don't think they really care because Mercedes isn't in it like Audi is against the 3-Series. Mercedes' brand is luxury and they're ok selling it in this segment even if it is dominated by the much sportier 3-Series.

$65k has to be an error. I sell them for a living and just bought a 335i and it was only $53,500 and I only left off a few things. Can't get much higher than $56k but maybe I should go back to the "build your own" and click every box. By the way, the reason I have never done this before is because no client ever has (with me anyway).

.... but so true... and even MB knows it... they are trying to avoid the hooligans... except when the develop their monster AMG cars...

If the A4 3.0T wins this comparo,
logically the S4 would top it even more.

But would the 335i still get the status of "most bonkers" if the S4 was indeed, and should have been, in the comparo ?

For now i really enjoy this honest test...

happy with the outcome.

Logically, i should have bought the A4/S4, but i stayed true to BMW and choose the 335i, which i am very happy with.

Except and Aside from (and in confirmation with what the article pointed out)
1) BMW rather high price
2) interior quality is not in par with Audi
3) that ODD bouncy ride during cruising ( i knew there was something wrong with the F30, and it's not dependent of the line.. this ride suspension is unlike bmw)

"There's a slight feeling of riding on waves as we cruise" (335i Sport !!) "too much up-and-down movement"

... going to look for a proper aftermarket sport suspension...

ok, So I thought the way things stack up is like this: BMW has the 335i, which competes against the A4 3.0T, and the C350, IS350. And the BMW M Sport (which was the "is"), competes against the S4, and C350 Sport (AMG Sport package), and the IS350 F-Sport...
If I am understanding it right...So why are people saying it was unfair, if the A4 had the supercharged V6, which had a lower rated engine, and the 335i is a direct competitor of it? Since the 335is was made to compete against the S4, and then they just changed the name to M Sport (should be "M tuned").

For the record, if you order a 335i F30 in Germany, the BASE price is € 43,600,- (US $ > 56k)...That's the BASE price! My not even fully loaded 335i did 72k euros....(93k US$)in NL. NL is a tad more expensive than D...

And I guess you guys need to look at this test the EU/UK way. The EU/UK A4 3.0 TFSI is a real competitor vs the 335i. The S4 is a tad more expensive to start with in EU/UK.

Cheers
Robin

Engine and price comparisons aside...

This was posted on Bimmerpost a few months back and the driver repeatedly states that the 335i tells you exactly what its going to do before it does it. Very predictable car in capable hands. The reviewers kept saying it was "tail happy" which I don't really agree with. Of course the back end will swing wide if you give it a boot full coming out of a corner, its a 300hp RWD car! Anyways, watch the video below, the driver does a much better job relaying the driving characteristics of the 335i.

m-sport does nothing but add aesthetics. does not even apply here.
