Anyh00 - I got a reply from my broker regarding this matter ...

Looks like I'll be OK but I feel for the guys who got their orders in after August
Good response from your broker and dealer. I ordered mine at the same time as you so guess its all down to how many build slots the dealer has!

I ordered my 320d m sport from Central, called and been advised my car is ok and due in 8 weeks.

Order date was 10th september I believe

Sorry to hear about your problems, glad I opted for the 320 and not the 330 not from central!

12/13 Dec which the dealer thinks may come in (earlier) a bit.

But that was last week, before this thread and waiting for an update today

The cancellation sounds more to me to be a 2012 finance issue than a car build slot issue.

Reading between the lines, the lease company can only get that finance deal on cars delivered this year. I imagine this was coupled with a BMW numbers for 2012 scheme too. As it looks like the timing slipped into next year it was a no deal situation on two counts, which would up the price massively.

(Lease companies get discount levels based on numbers sold per year, if come end of August numbers are low they discount heavily to make the projected level. Tricky thing for them is they have to predict in January what level of discount they will achieve in the forthcoming year, and set their prices based on that)

There is no way you would have to wait until March to get a new order 330D.The March date was only given as a smoke screen, because the OP would have probably waited a few more weeks.

IMO of course.

Sounds like you will be safe, in an emergency they can pre-register the car to make sure it all happens this year.

Same situation as me, as my predicted delivery date is in Jan, I asked about the BMW low APR. They said as long as they have a VIN they can register the car in time to comply. I ordered with the clause that I would only pay the monthly payment figure based on the low APR rate.

As of today I am still being quoted 10th December which is the date I was given when I first ordered the car.

I ordered a 330d about 2 weeks ago (ish). Just had an email asking for proofs of address etc... does this mean I'm OK?

How many people have had their orders cancelled?

Well it's both innit ... there aren't enough build slots in the remainder of this year and so they've slipped into next year's figures ... ergo they can't do them at the same price.

But don't forget, so far we have a tonne of people with these cars on order through Network and one person with a cancellation, and from a less than reputable company. This is the same company that ignored three requests from me for pricing on the 330D so they are clearly muppets

As I understand it there is a difference between build slots for the 320 & 330. Apparently Leaseplan agreed a certain number of build slots with a specific dealer. A neighbour who has been the supplying dealer for my previous BMW's said he wouldn't be able to supply my new one if I went with Leaseplan.

I was told 2 weeks or so back that all the 330 slots had gone & at the time there was 15 no. 320 build slots left.

With regard to lease pricing, BMW are not happy at the deal Leaseplan have done as it means they can undercut other brokers & BMW dealers & they were taking steps to put an end to it.

This thread really worried me. I thought I would lose both our cars which were 330d M Sports at a helloffa discount. But I've got ETAs and car order nos from the BMW dealer and I am sort of happy.

So I'll cross everything and hope for the best.

If it falls through, I'll buy a Rolls Royce (second hand) and lord it like no tomorrow!

...... and I've still got my wonderful Golf GTI and C350 CDI AMG!

I had the email asking for proofs of address on 13th September, and quoting a 17th December delivery date. 5 days later I got the email-of-doom quoted at the beginning of this thread.

I got the proof of address request on Aug 17th but didn't get a confirmed delivery date until 12 days later. I suspect that you were simply given the standard 8-10 weeks delivery date rather than anything from the dealer themselves. It seems that when the dealer went to place your order (5 days later), they had a delivery date returned well into 2013 and so the order could not be fulfilled.

I still think you're the only member of this forum affected. Would be interesting to know if anyone else ordered theirs on or around the same date in September and get them to confirm with their broker/dealer on the status of their order

Hi,

No decision yet - I'm waiting to hear from Central with their best offer on a Golf GTD (dirt cheap at the moment, assuming the cars can actually be had....). They haven't met their own deadline for coming back to me though.

First call tomorrow will probably be to a litigation partner from my old firm...

Litigation won't get you anywhere. You have no legal recourse unfortunately. Which sucks to be honest but it is what it is
