Search for members with @ in name

How does one search for members with @ in name?

It will not return name in user search

Mentions do not work either. See below???

@Alex@alpine

@ryan@ind

That’s for mention, yes.

Which doesn’t work in standard format as shown in post 1

It’s impossible to use in forum search as well.

I just went to search and entered "ryan@ind" into "search by username" then selected show threads started by and all that popped up were threads started by him. What exactly are you looking to do?

If you are trying to search for them using the "search" page you do not need to put the @ before their name.

Both username search and mentions with special characters are working for me.

Did you just change something?

I’ve been unable to make this work for a year.

Didn’t work and finally posted here.

Now it is working for first time :

I'm totally fucking with you bro. Just wanted to see how you would react

@mentions don't work with special characters in standard format, so you have to be a little creative. There are two options:

Lazy way: Try to find a match using keywords (e.g. Alpine, MSS, Alex, etc) -- this isn't guaranteed to work all the time.

Proven way: Grab the user id and matching username format (case sensitive) and complete the mention code manually.

Example:

Code:
@<Alex@Alpine>(contact:83193)
@<Ryan@IND>(contact:35504)

Note: Replace carrot characters with square brakets [ ]
As for searching with usernames containing special characters, this works just fine without any trickery.
