Get a California Car Duster. It wipes the pollen right off!

It's awful. I think it's the worst on BSM too. All you need is a little sprinkle of rain to really add to the pollen wrap. It gets nice and spotty. I've been doing quick rinses with a power washer, the. Pulling it into the garage for a blow dry.
Do those California dusters prevent trapped dirt from rubbing back onto the paint? Someone got me one for a gift on my previous car and I was a bit afraid to use it after a couple dustings. |

I didn't even bother cleaning my car, the pollen is ridiculous.

I guess we'all agree to disagree. I've used the Cal duster before it was ok but I had to make several passes to get the car clean and doesn't clean off bugs and bird bombs. I can do a full waterless wash/quick detail in my garage with no paint marring. It's so convenient I can do it several times per week.

Do you use an applicator or microfiber towel? How dirty can the car be before you need to use some water? Does it need to be diluted? How much product gets the job done? I ask out of concern over my water bills this summer. Georgia has water issues, so if they impose restrictions, want to still be able to clean my car. I wash it about twice per week.

Optimum's waterless wash is called Opti Clean. It dilutes 1:3 but many use 1:4 just fine. So a 32oz bottle can make a gallon of waterless wash, not bad for the $15 it costs. I use about 10-12 oz per session. Gallon size is even cheaper per oz. I use a lot (12) of MF towels because I want to minimize marring as much as possible but others use as few as 4. I've done my car after a week of driving with great results. If it's rained or pretty soiled I'd do a rinseless wash instead, which Optimum's versions are called No Rinse and Shine and No Rinse Wash and Wax. If there's visible mud on then a traditional wash is recommended. The best part aside from saving water is convenience. I can do a whole waterless or rinseless in my garage any time of day.

Use ONR on mine since I bought it with MF towels. Use about 8 wet and another 3-4 drying it up. Like Pheerix, says, one can do it anytime of the day. I even clean in the middle of winter.
As to pollen, I use the swiffer duster thingy which uses static electricity to get it off. Or I just go really fast so everything flies off! |
