If we're talking a 3-5k difference in sale price no "personal relationship" is going to trump that.

If it was 1k.......I wouldn't care.
If there's a significant gap then that relationship may not be as good as you first thought.

If they aren't giving you the best deal possible, they don't give a shit about you. That's worse than them hating you.

If you guys have a "relationship", they shouldn't be looking to make a commission from you. There are other was they can prosper from the relationship (eg. selling volume - you always going back to them and recommending others to them).

This is true, I called multiple dealers in the Denver area and told them that they are competing for my business. I had 4 dealers give me quotes on 3 different cars and Schomp BMW gave me the best deal on a 335xi. My CA from Winslow BMW that I bought my 328xi from told me that I was getting a hell of deal from Schomp and that I would be silly not to buy from them. Schomp will sell 250-400 cars a month all over the US

It was the same way when I bought an 07 STI from Hueburger Subaru in Colorado Springs. They didnt care if they made $200 on the car, they just want to sell as much as they can. Surprisingly they sell anywhere from 400-500 Subarus a month :S

Just recently did a build for a 2014 328i M Sport and was getting the run around in San Diego. Did Edmunds Price Promise and sent it to 6 different dealers. The ONLY one that referenced it was BMW of Murrieta (hour drive away). Ended up doing the build with them because I didn't have time for BS. Even though I probably could've gotten a local dealer to price match, I was more inclined to go with my NO-BS CA. If your in Southern CA looking, Edmunds is a good starting point!
