Traveling for 3 weeks - disconnect battery?
I'm about to head out of town for 3 weeks, and I'm wondering what sitting for that long will do to my battery. Should I disconnect it? (I really don't feel like shelling out for a charger.)

I wouldn't disconnect it. Either get a trickle charger or don't.

3 weeks is not a problem. Just make sure you lock it and it should be fine, assuming the battery is good, and fully charged.

Get a tender...
Your car will be fine if you lock it. This puts the vehicle in sleep mode and is good enough for me when I go on travel for weeks at a time.
That said, I do have a tender to top off the battery when I come back home or the night before a FDL coding session. IMO: Get a tender.

Yeah get a battery tender. I have one and it works great. It will be fine without though. Cars sit on dealership lots for weeks, and on boats during shipping, etc.

I agree that you should get a Battery Tender. Even though your battery will survive the 3 weeks it is much healthier for it to be fully recharged and toped up. It is generally a bad idea to disconnect the battery entirely because the computers like to stay powered even though they may be in sleep mode.

no need to disconnect. would say if you leave it for 2 months or more then sure or at least trickle charge it.

Well I did go ahead and pick up a charger for $50 at Harbor Freight.
I'm strongly considering naming this car "Princess," because it's so darn high a maintenance. |

I left my car on a trickle charger for 3 & 1/2 weeks and when I got back it started immediately. Better safe than sorry considering a decent trickle charger won't set you back that much.
