When the car is turned off and you turn the steering wheel to right or left the car will turn on again...

If you have enhanced BT and an iPhone, you can use voice commands to play specific artists, albums or even song titles.

For example, say "Search" then "Title" then "Happines is a Warm Gun." The Beatles tune plays -- and the female voice actually repeats the title before playing.

Your F30 is a $50K Wurlitzer jukebox.

Found an unreported cool one tonight driving home in the dark tonight...

While having the iDrive up and on any page, bump the iDrive controller to the right, and turn off the display. Now, hover your finger over one of the pre-configured 1-8 buttons. The display (all black) turns on to let you see what that number is pre-programmed for, but only the very top of the display. Hit the button you want, and the display dims back down. Very cool. Nicely done, BMW engineers.

Oh, and played around with the Sirius "rewind" feature. Went back and replayed the last 3 songs (which were awesomely chosen by Backspin)... so cool!

Oh, and for the stick drivers, accidentally stalled while pulling in hard left into my single stall. Pushed the clutch back in and put the car in neutral to make sure which gear I was in (this car is different from my last), and the engine auto started right back on again. My wife said, "Maybe I CAN drive this car afterall!"... Not gonna happen sweety...

Found another one last night after driving 4 hours at night. With the cruise control set, bump the left thumb toggle up or down lightly to advance or decrease by a mile and hour, or press it firmly up or down to speed up 5 mph or down to decell 5 mph.

Do the mirrors turn on their own when you put the car in reverse?

I wonder what's the logic behind only passenger side rear view mirros moving automatically in reverse.

So you can better see the curb while parallel parking.

Is this part of an option (such as the auto folding external mirrors option), or does it work on all F30s?

I'll give it a try if it works on Europe configurations without the external mirror folding option.

Should work. All countries are different but I have no extra option for the mirrors and I got this function.

One of my favorite features is the little, hidden compartment to the left of the drivers left knee on the bottom section of the dash. Perfect for keeping my wallet on long drives (keeping it out of view when I stop), or possibly storing a firearm. Albeit not a large one, but a medium to small one for sure.
I don't have a compartment there. I had it on my E9x.
Now there is a row of buttons for the collision warning and other systems.

Because on the non curb side you need to see traffic not the ground.

I must say something about the high beam assistant and adaptive headlights, they are freaking awesome, works very good and also very helpful at night . Love how the lights illuminate different part of the road depending on incoming vehicles and the cars in front.

Ambient lights

This might have been mentioned somewhere in this LONG thread but just noticed last night (don't do much night driving) that there is an ambient light strip on the interiors of the doors just above the door handles. Remarked to the wife just how cool it is that there is ambient lighting to light the door handles and window controls

I used to have this with my E46 convertible - it was very useful.

I think it was bundled with the memory seats.

Don't have it on my F30...

There is also a light on each B-Pillar at the top of the plastic airbag plate above the seat belt mount.

You can also change the color of the ambient lighting between while and amber through the Settings -> Lighting option.
