I just optioned a xDrive 335i MSport, Premium, Navi, Cold, Driver Assitance.... 58K just for reference... the GT will likely be higher.

Touring looks better, but Black Touring-Sport-Line looks best.

i actually am very pleasantly surprised on how they pulled off the 3GT. It ain't bad, at all. Given the benchmark was the 5GT, this thing is like a supermodel compared to that. It's still not for me, but its an improvement.

Honestly, it's a shame the hoffmeister kink doesn't translate on the GTs, wagons, SAVs, etc... It is one of my fave design features with BMW and only the sedans truly pull it off.

5Gt is quite beautiful. It is very elegant. If it were available right now, I would have ordered it for wifey in lieu of the 2014 X3 that we ordered last Saturday.

Personally, I violently disliked the x6 when it was released but now find myself spotting a few with m sport and a good set of wheels and think it looks pretty good! BMW have a habit of designing cars to look good through their cycle, meaning sometimes they are a little ahead of the curve and takes us all a while to catch up.

Just sayin' give it a little time.
I agree with you. I think that a large part of the negative reaction is because the 5 GT was such a poor design. I personally really like the 3 GT and look forward to test driving it in a few months.

The weight of that thing will slow it down on the 3 series engines on offer.

Don't understand all the hate on the looks of the GT... I personally like it way better then the touring (and though the touring is one of the better looking touring-models, it is a step or two behind the design of Audis tourings).

I might consider the GT to replace my X3. The touring doesn't have enough cargo room, particularly in terms of height. As much as I love the look of the touring, the cargo area isn't tall enough to carry some of the stuff I have to transport. The GT might solve that problem, and I won't have to drive a truck! I'm also hoping they bring it to the US with a stick, something I can't get in the X3.

Ok, here is the truth about the GT series in my mind:

- BMW sees the Audi's success with the A5 four door and the A7, mercedes R classe, etc.
- They decide to build the 5GT and 3GT at the same time
- They build the 5GT, but because of many limiting factors it turns out looking like a turd.
- They see the 5GT very weak sales but the 3GT is so advanced into testing and design that they would waste too much money by cancelling it.
- They launch the semi-turd-looking 3GT.

"Truth"? Do you have any 3rd party sources for your assertions or is this just stuff you made up?

What? 0-62 in 6.1 seconds with a 4 cylinder 328i isn't fast enough?

I need a drivability comparison... that weight factor is killing me... almost 300lbs heavier.

I wonder how a theoretical LWB Touring would stack up.

Interesting

3 GT starting to make more sense now. Looks better than I though and is more practical if you have a family but still want a sporty drive now and again.

Having driven 3 series for years there have been occassions where that extra space would come in handy.

I would take the GT over the Tourer. Its more current.

Man the GT is ugly. BMW really confuses me. The 5GT sold like utter rubbish, but they decide to release a smaller version of the same abortion. Sigh..

The Touring has better cargo loading than the GT, not the other way around.

You guys are getting it backwards I think. The GT loses.

The F34 got a 5, while the Touring got an 8.

Doubt that the sloping hatch will lead to a higher cargo area than touring.

You think the GT cargo area is going to be higher than the touring, when it has a sloping hatchback? Is there a comparo measurement that I'm missing?

they killed the manual transmission in the wagon, they won't bring a manual with the diesel, they won't bring a 328i xdrive manual but they bring this awful thing. stab me a couple more times in the heart.
