Raj, what is your product? I dont want to opticoat as I would shit bricks having something borderline permanently on there.

I have only washed the car once since getting it and thats because I am scared and have to do it gently and the like, so need something to protect it.

Can you price me up a sealer or whatever it is plus a stage one buff and PM me?

Also my piano black trim came pretty bloody swirl and scratched from the dealer along with the exterior, what have you got to fix interior?

cheers man

Sherv, we have a few products mate. The favourite is Wolf's Hard Body. I will PM you mate. Manufacturer claim of 2 years durability. These claims are ALWAYS subject to variables (storage, maintenance, usage, etc).

Hey dark280, did you leave your car with them overnight for it to cure? My garage can get dusty, so i am a little wary of bringing it back home if it needs a sterile environment to cure.

Or is it just a recommendation not to drive it for 2 days to let the opticoat cure?

Yes I left the car overnight - I did not get the wheels opti coated as suggested by Reflect Effect - he suggested I clean them weekly - I can say that the product is great so far, it has been 2 months and it works great, bugs, tree marks and even light tar just comes right off during the wash with the soapy sponge. I had a residue on my boot lid and was showing a friend how easily it comes off by hosing the lid down and with a soft microfibre rag it came right off without soap. The lifetime warranty requires a yearly visit were they reapply it to parts were it might be wearing thin. So far so good

I'm keen to see if this product increases the gloss and shine of the paint or is it really just a layer of protection and repels dirt...
Sure, I could do that. My plan is to pick it up in the morning and then my detailer will do the leather treatment and Opticoat application at my place.

For best results he suggested it cure for a day, and while it'll be hard not to drive it I'm happy to do this if it means I have a great protection coat to the mineral white paintwork

Besides, I'll need some time to push all the buttons and play around with the iDrive system.

Had the opticoat done today - Kim did a fantastic job!! +1 Detail Evolution for Brisbane folk

Interesting aside - he commented the paint depth on the current 3 series is almost equivalent to a Holden commodore !

Does that mean it is thin?

yes thinner than previous models and all come from the Sth Africa plant. Expected approx 120-130micron paint depth and he is getting approx low 100's

5 series etc still have decent paint depth

YEs, this is so true, in regads to thinness of paint. Morrie from Reflection Perfection in Melbourne has done a number of F30's now and said all have paint on the thin side! Not the best news I wanted to hear after unloading all that cash on a new car!

Does leave you a little deflated with the quality of BMW 3 series but otherwise I must say I'm loving the car
