BMW Y cable

Does it improve sound quality over the standard apple (lightning-USB) cable?

I have both...more or less because it came with my car (the "BMW" Y cable that is).
I found that my Apple MFi Certified Lightning cable does sound better OVERALL, then the standard Y cable. I have quicker response (Like when you hit play) from the Y cable than the Apple cable but it does not bother me too much.
Hope that helps.

No it's the opposite. The Y cable would have lower sound quality. A straight USB connection is all digital. The y cable is analog audio.
