In Eco mode you can't but drive like a grandpa.
I NEVER use that mode.

I use sport mode about 95% of the time.
My fuel efficiency is regulated mostly by my right foot.

It's been really cold still in the Chicago area and my tires are running at lower psi than what I set them at. I last set them when it was around mid 70's when we got a warm spell. Set to 40psi rear and 39psi front.
But, since the temps have been in the mid 50's psi has been lower.

Current MPG is averaging 25.5 mathematically calculated.
When temps go up I get about 1mpg better.
Dip into the power of a 328i or 335i and watch that number drop, and considerably if you continue dipping.

For typical day to day driving 328's and 335's are both producing about the same power demand. Weight difference between equally optioned 3's is only around 110-120lbs. Can't cheat weight to power, and there is no magical way to cheat that. Driving either variant in the same low to moderate power production is going to use about the same amount of fuel.
328i will do a little better, it's a bit lighter.
Driven hard and using the 335i's greater power is going to result in lower MPG obviously as you're calling on the engine to produce the greater power it's capable of producing.

IOW, producing the full 300hp/300lb ft. is going to require more fuel compared to producing 240hp/255lb ft.
On the highway with both cars moving at the same steady state speed, they're both going to require about the same power and will burn about the same amount of fuel. Note, not exactly the same, but pretty darn close.

There's likely more MPG variance among 328i's driven mostly city and mostly highway then there is between 328i and 335i as a group average.
The EPA MPG testing reveals that.

My 14' F32 428 xi has 1750 miles, today I hit 27.4 mpg with mixed city/highway. I miss the power of my 10' N54 engine but I love the seeing my mpg go up on a weekly basis. I averaged 21.1 mpg on the 10' 335 xi. Plus when switching to sport/sport +, I'm pleasantly surprised of the power this 4 cylinder turbo engine puts out.

The Real Deal F30 335i xDrive MPG

Actual milage and MPG recorded from the gas pump. Averaging 24.3 MPG for the life of the car with over 27,000 miles on it. Currently live in Germany and excessive triple digits on the autobahn derpesses the MPG. Can easily get 33 MPG with easy 80 MPH.

These are from a trip from Nashville, TN to Raleigh, NC and back- up through the Smoky Mountains and Ashville and back down - amazing what this 328i can do! This was with the AC on and cruise set - and does it really pull going up hill - passing is effortless!

Sport seats make a difference - but still after 8 hours need to get out and stretch!

Why buy a hybrid - possibly a diesel to get these numbers.

Average speed of 68 over an 8 hour trip? That's damn good time; did you even stop to eat?

Anyway so far my overall average is 24mpg at an average speed of about 34mph in my 335i auto. Roughly 5k miles on the clock so far.

I suggest people posting their mpg also post their computer-indicated average speed, that's probably the biggest factor in gas mileage.

You can also try this. You can then calculate your average OBC mpg from here. Mine indicates 25.6mpg over those 1000 miles. 70% city, 30% highway.

335i xdrive with 335hp and 19" staggered summer tires.

328i Luxury. Round trip 103.2miles, 34.2mpg avg., 50.1mph avg., grandpa mode (eco), cruise control 65mph.

Elevation change 1300 feet to sea level and back. Home to sea level location was 38.8mpg. Mileage would have been much better on return trip but good old CA freeway moving at about 20mph for a big part of return trip killed overall mileage.

No complaints about mileage at this end of the world.

Silly question, but does anyone know if the "miles gained" in Eco Pro mode are per tank? Or is it per gallon?

I average anywhere from 19-21mpg. Is this normal for a 428i? Although I'm still in sport mode 90% of the time.

Same. Didn't expect this much zing from a 4 cylinder.

Did a drive with four people across the state of Florida yesterday. I averaged 37.5 MPG taking secondary roads, including plenty of passing. Now to clean off the love bugs. . .
