1013MM x LTMOTORWERKS - Doin' Werk Before Bimmerfest 2013. Project Peach Version 3.0!
When the F30 first came out, LTMW and I knew there was instant room for improvement, especially the front end. While we have much respect for the BMW designers and engineering team, we (Courtney included ) strongly felt that the front end could use a bit of modification. This was before all the lip kips came out for the non-msport version of the car since she had purchased it in April before the Msport package even arrived stateside. Knowing that most would eventually have an Msport bumper, Courtney decided to go a different route. And by different, she went completely against the norm with two iterations of an "M-inspired" front end both times.
Both the previous two bumpers were custom fabricated by LTMW and both used modified OEM bumpers. The first was a combo of a non-msport F30 bumper and 1M bumper while the second was a combo of a non-msport F30 bumper and a heavily modified M6 bumper. While both bumpers looked great, something was missing. The first bumper looked aggressive, but simple. The second bumper was different, but there were no lip options for it. This left Courtney wanting more for Project Peach. In late March of this year, she and I began brainstorming new front end ideas, after all, most of the rest of her car was already heavily modified by now and it was time to focus our efforts back to the front end. This time around, the Msport package was already selling like hot cakes thanks to BMW. It was surprisingly somewhat aggressive-looking from factory. We decided to use the Msport bumper as a base. At this point, we were looking back at photos from the previous iterations of her car and she really missed the 1M look. Since I'm on Photoshop all day, I decided one day to photo chop a Msport and 1M bumper together just to see it would look. The cuts that had to be made weren't just a simple straight line across like many would think. This new hybrid bumper would require more precision cutting and molding. Initially, I put off the photo chop as just a playful render until Courtney saw it and was instantly in love with it. Since we knew that nothing was impossible with LTMW (1M fenders on a F30), I texted Long the render. Eventually, near the end of April, LTMW had the bumper in progress. This would prove to be one of the most difficult bumpers he would fabricate causing him to tell us that it would be the only one he would ever make. In just less than a couple weeks, he would have the bumper physically mocked up, molded, painted and installed on Project Peach. As it stands now, the project at its current state, still needs a lip that will hopefully be here on time for Bimmerfest, H&R spacers, modification to the side skirts, and a slight suspension drop. It's obviously not a finished product yet. I just wanted to share with you this humbling experience. It's just crazy to see one of my photo chop renders come to life thanks to Courtney and Long at first I just thought I was messing around but it turned out even better! Before we get our hands down and dirty for last minute Bimmerfest prep, I'll leave you with these photos. A new batch of photos will be out soon featuring Project Peach V3.0 in her true form as we get busy. Also, coming soon... See y'all at Bimmerfest 2013! I can dig it. I prefer the HREs over the current wheels though.

Designer rant - I think you've gone backwards.
The first bumper worked fairly well because it was merged with a pretty clean starting surface. The second bumper felt proportionally off. The F30 has a low nose to begin with and with that bumper it was even droopier feeling, but visually it was still clean. The new bumper just has too many lines and they're fighting each other. The narrowness of the outer edges of the lower lip makes it feel kind of like the car has a cleft palate.

If you read the write up, the process is a PITA and this is the only bumper that Long plans to do like this.
I like the idea of the bumper but it looks a bit unfinished. I think a lip will be the perfect addition to really bring it together. Kudos for going to such lengths for a look you (or Courtney) wanted. |

I'm always tempted by body work, but wimp out and just got a spoiler and CF mirror caps to add a little "flair".

While I'm not the biggest fan of the 1M front I can really appreciate custom work such as this. Keep it up guys
Somehow knew the lip would make it on by Bimmerfest :P
