Got the intake installed last Friday and I'm liking it so far; you can really hear the turbo now. Here's two quick pics with the phone, I hope to upload a video of it later this week. To early for impressions besides the nice sound it makes.

That's a very nice intake, sound good too from the video. Just wonder if you have any video inside cabin with windows up? Cheers!

I don't think it's easy to record inside the cabin without better equipment like a good mic. I tried and could not do it with satisfactory results. But you will definitely hear it while driving on all range of its RPM.

Really nice DIY and great pics! I´m on the fence bout goin this route, somehow the Injen design is more appealing than the aFe intake (and I don´t mean visually).

But I have some questions for you guys with it; how much crap or water gets in through those openings on the top lid, or through the OEM inlet? How often do you have to change or clean the filter? And what difference is there between the polished and the black wrinkled pipe in terms of heat; I´m thinking of going with the black one as I assume it´s less prone to pick up heat from the environment, even though it may be minimal..

thanks

I have completed the injen myself with JB4 tune and the sound I get from the Injen is amazing! Couldn't be happier with it and makes me feel like I'm trying a big turbo car the way that thing sucks up the air.

Had it installed over the weekend, and I'm in love with the sound it makes! I do have a BMS stage 1 tune and I can feel (some) hp gain. I also took a video with the hood on and without it. Overall I'm really satisfied with this mod

I too am interested in how clean the filter stays? Is Water an issue at highways speeds in the rain?
How long did the install take (approx.)?
Any word from BMW if this will effect warranty?
It would be a shame to shell out 375 bucks to void your warranty...

I am pretty sure this will void your warranty, I even think a drop-in filter could be a problem if something happens..

The US has different laws that really protect the owner with warranty claims. Basically the dealer has to prove that "whatever" caused the failure, not the owner having to prove.

As for an aftermarket filter, dealers would have a very hard time proving this did any type of damage to anything, if properly installed.

questions

Is it normal for the pipes to feel firm yet still able to shake when you hold them? Like if you were to forcefully (not with too much force) shake them, they feel slightly shake, but you can still feel that they are tight in place. Also when I decelerate sometimes the sound doesn't go one "swoosh" but goes " woo woosh". comments are appreciated guys.
