My review on ER catted DP

I recently installed the ER catted DP on my 335. One word, WOW. It is amazing. It definitely brings my car to life. I originally had the meisterschaft GT haus exhaust , and that thing was a beast. But this is my DD car, and I could not tolerate the drone so I switched over to akrapovich. AKRA is amazing, their is no drone in the cabin and sounds absolutely amazing hearing it from the outside.
But I wanted something a little bit louder coming over from GT haus and researched thoroughly about downpipes. It was between ER and Wagner, and chose ER.
After installing the DP, I definitely notice a difference in sound of the exhaust. The exhaust already had a nicer, deeper, fuller tone compare to OEM DP . After installing the DP, it just made the exhaust come more to life. While accelerating into the higher RPM's, you can hear the exhaust from inside the cabin . Definitely sounds a lot meaner and while down shifting you can hear the pops , which sounds great. Their is slightly more noise in the cabin, but very tolerable. I don't know if I would say it is droning, but this noise was certainly not their when I had the OEM dp. The only downside is that the DP triggered a CEL. Although it is catted, I am upset it triggered a CEL this quickly(After one day) . I am still waiting on the jb4 which should arrive hopefully this week and should clear the code along with the BMS intake.
Regarding performance, I do feel a slight difference when accelerating. I feel as if the car pulls a lot easier and quicker compared to when I had my OEM DP.
For those of you who are on the brink of getting an aftermarket DP , I would definitely invest in one

Sounds mean
...just curious why you decided on a catted dp (vs. non-catted) if you're planning on a jb4?

Fuel smell was a big reason. Another reason was I was under the impression CATTED DP's have a lower probability of throwing CELs then CATLESS. But in my case, I guess not.

Yeah, well you have an exhaust, so that's not a fair comparison..for someone with stock exhaust the pure dp sound is great. When you pair it with exhaust, well different thing.

yea I read people have different results running on different maps. But from the looks of it, map 2 is the safest bet if you just have bolt ons and running octane gas

There are some people out there.

Trust me, I've seen or heard it all. I've had questions asked that will rattle your brain LOL

I do notice a lot of guys in the BMW boards wanting to get a more raw sound, with pops and gurgles. It's interesting cause other platforms are trying to get the smooth and refined noise.

Different strokes for different folks, that's all.

So if your catted DP is gonna throw a CEL and you still need a JB4 to clear it ...... your car will likely still fail emissions. Right?

Unless you're a tree-hugger or want to give the illusion that you're trying to be emissions compliant, why bother?
