M3 generation with Best Side Mirrors?

Which generation do you guys think has the coolest, most unique, best, etc side view mirrors? Personally, I think the F8X are the most uninteresting and most similar to the non-M counterparts. I'd have to vote for the E36.

Ya, tough choice for me. E9X were pretty darn cool.

Kind of a silly, ridiculous question only other car-peeps could fathom. I'm a little bored ATM

Ehh, I love the F8X housings. They're so sharp, and I like the black contrast with the integrated turn signal.

I completely understand boredom! I've been basically housebound for two weeks now so all I have to do is read and translate this to kids since apparently this forum is the only thing they want to be read to them.

This has resulted in a few MINOR ot slip ups, which naturally are not my usual way of dealing with such a serious matter as cars.

I still think all in all the E9x generation will age better and it is with a character that I love. Ours are too much pretty, M4 is downright girly in many angles.

The mirrors in ours are horns, where as the E9x were more horny type of a thing. My lack of coffee does not improve commenting btw.

Mirrors on the E36 and E9X M's are my favorite.
Whereas the ones found on the E36 are classic, the E9X mirrors are a nice modern take on the original & look great.

Actually, the mirrors on the E36 predate the E36 M3 and were known as BMW Motorsport mirrors.
They were even OEM on the 850CSi and certain MY E34 M5s (1993 i believe, along with BMW Motorsport door handles).

As they were the BMW Motorsport mirrors of the 90s, you can still see contemporary BMW racing cars with them.

Great pics. I don't remember an 850 with those mirrors, or those M-Contour rims for that matter.

Don't get me wrong, I think the mirrors look pretty darn good on the F8X. Just not a unique BMW-Motorsport look IMHO.

It's not WHAT you read them, it's the TONE in which you read it to them (up to a certain age) limited slip differentials, carbon fiber drive shafts can be extremely interesting. Can sometimes work on significant others as well (extremely rare though)

Agreed. The rounded mirrors were a key feature in the past but the new ones have adopted a more angular shape.

New regulations are to blame, the mirrors just get keep growing in size.

& that's because its no run of the mill 850, the CSi model was an M-car in all but name. S70 V12, M goodies such as the mirrors and wheels/tires.
A 6 speed manual trans was the sole transmission and even the VIN# begins with WBS.

E36 mirrors looked the best, although they weren't great for visibility.

Yeah, my M Coupe mirrors looked awesome but were nearly useless. Heated all the time too, very useful in the summer.

These are my favorite. I don't understand why the F80/2 does not look more "connected" at the top,

But you are right, it def took me a while to get used to the tiny mirrors on the E36.

You guys and gal are nuts.

I like the F8x for same stealth/side blinker style.... and the E39's rear view mirror....

Yes, it is quite awkward how it doesn't aesthetically "connect" at the top bridge/fork. That and the angular, sharp edges vs. the traditional rounded mirrors for M-models.

I actually prefer the E9X M blinkers and how they are integrated into the side gills a la BMW Z8.
Very subtle and clean & goes together with the side profile well.

The new F-chassis with blinkers on the mirrors, while nicely executed, still look a bit more generic in comparison.

Hahaha I've been looking at new cars for so long that I completely forgot that's where the side blinkers were on my E92.

I've always loved that side gill though, goes so well with the profile of the car.

Only a matter of time before someone mods their F8x side vent to do the same

Agreed. Reminds me a little of Mercedes. On the side gill would have been cool.
