So I've always disliked BMW's remote system due to the fact that you can unlock everything (simultaneously) from the key fob, but not lock it. Was looking forward to some change with the f30 system. Well, you still can't do it through the key fob, but apparently you can accomplish the same thing via comfort access. Hold your finger down on the ribbed "lock" area on the door handle, and everything locks simultaneously.

Activate cruise control on the highway in 5th, then shift slowly to 6. Automatic rev matching!!??!???!??!?

I would be more impressed if it matched on a downshift where it will facilitate smooth changes with constant velocity.
To be honest though I was fairly impressed that the cruise control remains active despite using the clutch and subsequently changing gear.

Are you able to lock your doors, windows and sunroof from the key fob?

It is disabled by default in the US. Works in other regions.

Good. Now we're on the same page. If you have comfort access, you are able to do so (simaltaneously close/lock all the windows, doors and sunroof) by holding your finger on the ribbed lock area on the exterior door handle.

Ahhh, close/lock - some confusion over terminology there;

Anyway. I can close my windows, sunroof and fold mirrors in by pressing lock button and then immediately pressing and holding it again.
Same works with unlock to open them. Once you release the button it stops windows and sunroof where they've got to (mirrors continue once started and fold fully and also open on single press without holding for unlock).

Would be more convenient if on close I could simply hold to start and release and it continues to close otherwise you have to stand there waiting tediously.

Not work on yours? Regional difference again?

Yes, it's regional. In US cars by default, you can only roll the windows down by holding the fob button, that's it.

To get the functions you mention (mirrors and close windows via fob or CA), you have to enable them by coding the car.

Mirror close/open & windows close has been requested and coded in every single car that I've coded, about 20 cars so far. It's the most popular one along with the TPMS pressure/temperature display.

Obviously this isn't something I would class as a useful bit of information but I'll share anyway...

I took the rare opportunity of a day off and a break in the weather to wash the car. When I was cleaning the soot off the exhaust pipe with a brush, the comfort access triggered the boot release. Ok, it's not the most practical way of doing it but it was an unexpected side effect

I did the same thing! Now, I always make sure I don't have the key fob with me when I wash the car!

Looks good but that's a LOT of blue in there. I got burl wood inside so it looks completely different. Is the steering column in your car EB also?

. The only thing blue in the picture and in my interior is that tiny blue horizontal stripe, and of course the logo on the wheel. Maybe the lighting is throwing you off?

The ignition button shuts off the engine AND shifts to "P" to park:
When you're done driving and have fully stopped in your parking location and ready to park, with your foot still on the brake, just push the ignition button once to shut off the engine, and the transmission will automatically switch to "P" to park. Done. Now you can just get out of the car and walk away as you enable the alarm. Don't worry, the radio and everything else will automatically shut off after about 5 minutes.

Oh for cryin out loud, I've had my car for almost six months now, thinking there was no physical trunk release button on the driver's side. Nice post.

The ignition is still on if you only hit the button once, and whilst it may time out and turn off until then I believe your car is locked but not alarmed

Just hit ignition twice when parking and it all goes off
