If someone has or currently owns both, could you provide a comparison between the best audio systems available for the two cars? I currently have an E92 M3 with the individual audio but there are no dealers around with a 2016.

I enjoy my music loud, clear, and a little heavy on the bass. For comparison, the Mark Levinson system in my GX and the B/O system in the S3 I had are what I use as reference for the best sounding OEM systems. The M3 is a close 3rd. So as long as the 340i can at least match the E92 M I would be happy.

I would say the HK in my 340i is about the same as the S3 B/O - I know a lot of audio snobs around here like to hate on the HK system but I think it's very high quality. My friend has the e92 individual audio and he wishes he didn't spend the extra money.

I think your best bet is to go to the dealer and hear HK for yourself. Any F3x with HK will have the same system (both pre-LCI & LCI).

More importantly, what were your impressions of the S3? I strongly considered one but ended up getting a 2014 335i (per my signature). I dismissed the S3 almost exclusively due to its diminutive interior.

I owned the S3 for about a month. I couldn't get over the sub-par awd system and lack of manual transmission. I had hoped it would be the "do all" car for me, and while it had good tech and was fairly quick, I got really bored with it. If they offered it with a manual I probably would have hung on to it.

Agree on the manual. That was admittedly another drawback, though I did think it was a pretty nice auto. Obviously I got a manual with the 335i.

From my research, I'd say no. The EPS in the E9X used higher quality materials for the crossovers, amplifiers, and speakers. But, this doesn't mean the 2016 HK is a piker; it isn't, and, to my ears, sounds excellent.

And the EPS had 225 more watts than the 600-watt HK, if that's important to you.

But, if an board member named "Technic" chimes in to this thread, I'd defer to anything he had to say regarding these two systems.
