N20 oil pump whine when cold

Anyone else experienced this, it's a high pitch whine which lasts about 10mins and goes once the engine is warm. I've read around and can't understand why some people have replaced the oil pump and sprocket and chain but the whine has come back after a few thousand miles? Logic being if you replace the parts why does it come back.

I've had it looked at and it's not the timing chain or tensioner as there is no noise after warm up. No faults thrown when driving.

Thks

Yes- I had this exact same symptom on my 2014 328i from ~75k miles to ~95k miles when the vehicle was involved in an accident and totaled. I had no plans to do anything about it preemptively and like you said... timing chain was taught when engine warm.

I wouldn't say its normal but I do believe semi-common.

Defo not a timing chain issue, no noise at all once engine warm approx. 10 mins or so from cold...
