March of Dimes

I originally posted a thread asking for help from forum members under "Please Donate". Many forum members made generous donations to this truly worthy cause - and you have my sincere appreciation for your support.

I have the honor of being a 2015 Volunteer for the annual March of Dimes campaign.

As I am nearing the end of my volunteer campaign efforts for the March of Dimes - I am again reaching out to my fellow car enthusiasts to leverage the power of this community. A donation of any amount is greatly appreciated, takes 2 minutes, and can be made from the following link:

www.marchforbabies.org/rwmcfarland

If you have questions specific to the March of Dimes - please visit www.marchofdimes.org. I can answer any questions that you have specific to my efforts via PM.

Thank you in advance for your support and generosity.

I'll say the same thing that I said to another poster asking for donations last week. I don't see a point in reposting every day. I don't think you are reaching a new audience everyday. We have all seen your post and have chosen not to donate for various reasons. A few of us donated directly to a member recently, so we are giving where we choose to. I don't mean to sound disrespectful, as I give you credit for trying but it feels like the same salesperson is knocking on my door everyday even though I already declined. Thanks for reading and good luck.

I appreciate your feedback. Even though I have not posted my sincere thanks to those that have donated - you assume that all on this forum have ignored the request and have made zero donations for the March of Dimes..?

From the kindness of many forum members, I have received several donations to support this wonderful charity.

Just think - in the time it took to post your reply, a donation could have been made

Simply and respectfully stated, I am trying to leverage the power of community to make a positive change for a worthy cause.

I know one sure fire way to get me to stop bumping this post...

Can you get them to stop sending me dimes and personalized return labels? They're wasting good money constantly trying to get me to donate again and I don't even use the labels. I have to shred them which wreaks havoc on my shredder. Makes me question how they've spent the money I sent them and doesn't encourage me to donate again.

A simple letter explaining what they've done/accomplished in the past year as well as what they hope to accomplish in the following year would be much more effective and appreciated. If you have any way to pass that feedback up the chain, please do.

Just saw this thread. I have made up my mind in the last few days that I will no longer be donating money online or giving money away in person. The only one I would donate to would be Second Harvest Food Bank or simply donate my time at a charity place. That way I know my time/money is being used well. I just feel that oftentimes donated money doesn't go that far because the organization that receives pays themselves first. It's easy to be wasteful when it is not your money. Not saying YOU, just saying in general that's the case.

Devious - I am an annual volunteer for the March of Dimes campaign. Like the United Way and American Heart Association, March of Dimes is a rather large operation. As I have other full time employment, I do not directly work for the March of Dimes - I volunteer and work to assist with fundraising efforts here in my community. I also volunteer my time and financial resources to other charities (United Way, ASPCA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters) and receive similar marketing materials from many of these orginizations as well.

Food banks are always a worthy cause as food deserts significantly impact communities in so many ways.

If I can speak to your comment - unfortunately, large organizations like United Way, March of Dimes, and others have scale to support. It is inevitable that funds must be used to operate an organization of their size. I believe from the most recent annual report, the March of Dimes uses ~ 11% of their gross annual donations to fund full time employees. I ask that people who read this post not overlook the good these charities have done and continue to do.

I dunno, I think I need the money more than a CEO of a charity who makes 1/2 Mil a year

Good intentions need to be funneled to worthy causes.. I guess I am still sour after being asked for a donation as a 15yr old by some nun for starving tibetian children and then rudely put down when I refused (because I am a freaking student how much money do you think I have on me?)

Sorry. Eat it.

What I know and can speak to - the CEO makes 500k a year, but this charity raised 109 million for their cause last year... the salary is CONSIDERABLY smaller in comparison to many other CEO's who manage one of the largest non-profits in the country.
