Question Lightning Cable?

Hey guys,

Quick question. I took a look at my F30 today but will pick it up Monday. Anyways, for the integrated smartphone in the arm rest, is it a lightning connection or 30 pin? Or is it something else all together?

I just want to order a 30 pin to lightning convert if it is in fact a 30 pin.

Thanks!

USB to lightning cord (assuming its an iPhone 5 / 5s / 5c) - same that comes with the iPhone.

Its a USB to 30 pin if an iPhone 4s or older.

So the cable that comes with the car is meant for the iPhone 5, or would I need an adapter?

No cable comes with the car. A USB port comes with the car.

There is no standard apple connector anywhere in the car. The armrest has a normal USB connector & the glove box has a USB flash drive connector for transferring music or updates.

Then what is this "Y-cable" that everyone is talking about? I heard it was meant for the i-devices. I just wanna make sure I have everything by the time my car gets here.

I think maybe the OP meant the official (but optional accessorie) bmw dock that goes inside the armrest, like this:

By the looks of it though, i would say its a 30pin

Edit: and this is that "Y-cable":

Last edit, i promise:

Recently i saw this video though on youtube:

So im not sure the 30pin to lightning adapter will even work

You don't need the y cable. The USB cable, whether 30-pin or lightening, works perfectly. I keep a lightening USB in the armrest with my nano connected. I keep a 30-pin USB on hand for my iPhone 4S, which I will throw away on Thursday when I receive my iPhone 5S. That is a very long way of saying that the USB cable that comes with your device works perfectly.
