Will have to see the pricing, since in China we do not get the wagons this GT is just what i was looking for

Now what i am afraid of is that the price will be up thus catching up with the 5 .. the 328 is already peanuts away from the 525 (yeah they do not have the 528 here, the 25 is just a few ponies down the 28), i kinda expect the 328GT to be on par with the 525.

All things considered i think a 3GT would be a better family car, looking forward to seeing it.

This car looks ridiculous. I'm legitimately surprised to see that the community's reaction to this isn't to pan it. Its an absurd amalgam - a hideous 'jack of all trades - master of none." I don't understand BMW's recent obsession with creating sub-niches. They're diluting themselves and their image. Someone explain to me why we need a 3 series sedan, a 4 series gran coupe, a 3 series GT, a 5 series, AND a 5 series GT?? BMW is just cannibalizing its own sales, and making itself look foolish as it does it.

^ It's what happens when your lead designer doesn't have a pair

Isn't this the answer to the ex37? Isn't it called a skyline in Japan where they may have a nismo version?

i understand your reaction, but what if:

-u find the f30 or f31 too small especially in the rear
-u dont wanna drive a boat like the f10
-u want to stay in that brand

???

That really just says more about how large and porky the F10 is. BMW really has an immediate need for a smaller car than the F30, not larger. Isn't the 3GT longer than an F10/11?

You drive an M. Your car has a funny looking rear end. The 3GT and numerous other vehicles are not for you. Can you imagine that? BMW doesn't revolve around your wants? Keep imagining you drive a race car. This is BMW growing up to be a big car company to compete with the big boys. There's now a great alternative to the Panamera (for those who don't need to pretend they drive a race car).

Whether or not I drive an M car has no bearing on whether this car is objectively a good looking car. Being an M-car driver makes me no less capable of appreciating the aesthetics of the 3 series sedan, the 5 series sedan, the 6 series coupe, the z roadster - all of which are good looking purposeful machines. This car though, is not that. And more problematically, it fills no niche except those already filled by BMW's other niche products.

And sorry to break it to you, the 3 Series GT is not in the same class (performance, price, looks, clientele or otherwise) as the Panamera, or meant to be a competitor thereof. Not sure where you came up with that bit of fluff. The 6 series gran coupe is and has always been BMW's panamera competitor.

You seem to take comments pretty personally, quickly taking things to personal attack. Maybe a "big boys" car isn't for you after all. Not when your mentality is childish.

@esquire: To the contrary, I see the big picture clearly as does BMW. They need to be something bigger than the little boutique car maker you probably fell in love with. You have no lock on objective reasoning. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are few GT style luxury cars on the market. BMW is producing one at the 3 series level. That's a smart move and a shame you don't get it and wring your hands why.

I completely agree. This is the ONLY ANGLE that looks good. If you start to look at sides and rear quarter profile, it looks horrible.
